there are no 360s out there at all. M$ messed up with a world wide launch they couldn't support. you can't even buy a 360. my pre-order STILL hasn't come. EA got games out as fast as possible for it and even if everyone who has a 360 buys Madden, it's still only 1% of the people who have a ps2.

all game companies are pissed at M$ now trust me.

Poor Planing, EA knows ever 5-7 years a new console cycle begins and it takes a year or two to get the new fanbases in, but laying off 5% isnt that much, on the other hand i have no clue how EA made it this far, Ubisoft kicks there @$$

duh duh duh duh stop making sequels and then maybe people would buy more of your games!

when your biggest products are burnout 4, battlefield 2, need for speed...what 9 now? madden/fifa/nba/nhl 15th year, fight night 2, ssx 5, lotr battle for middle earth 2, nba/nfl street 3/2, crappy james bond game that EA has made #4, medal of honor the-amount-of-time-covered-by-WWII-games-is-longer-than-the-actual-war edition, Sims 2 with expansion packs approaching infinity.

THERE IS ONE GAME THAT IS NEW - NFL HEAD COACH
http://www.ea.com/ps2.jsp

look
at that page. EA isn't even human anymore, there literally aren't any original games AT ALL!!!!

WOW I didn't even think it was this bad!!

Funny that EA lays the blame on console sales instead of the quality of their 360 titles leading to poor performance on the market. Without exception, their sports lineup was panned for the gaping lack of features already present on their previous games and extremely poor design choices (bad camera in NBA, no challenges in Madden)

We dont know yet what positions were let go but I think we can assume its the guys who wear sneakers and jeans to work, doing the hard work, and not the guys in suits, making the poor decisions.

Burn, EA. Burn

Since I am one of the first ones to commment, I figure that at least one person from Joystiq will read this. You see, I have questions about E3 that you may hopefully be able to answer (E3's site doesn't seem to have any place to direct questions to). I am sadly a tad under 18 and not in the industry, and I would love to attend (of course). But I know a man in the
industry who gets free tickets every year. Could I potentially take one of those free tickets and enter E3, or would they stop me at the gate for not being 18. They have the "18 and under not admitted"
rule everywhere on their site. But still, if I have a ticket I should be accepted in. Maybe someone can answer this once and for all, or find a way that would allow me to tag along with my friend who is in the industry. Lastly, has anyone ever seen a person under
18 at E3? I needed to resort to Joystiq because E3's site is absolutely shitty at answering questions.

Newsflash Alex K. Companies Need sequals to make sequels so they have enough to invest in a New IP. If they dont Have enough money, then you probably arnt going to invest in a new game that has potential to flop.

Hmm, They did this in 2001 as well, several months after the PS2 debuted. Under the exact same reasoning. I'm not surprised at all by this layoff.

EA is going to be around for a very long time people, get used to it.

Yeah, how dare this company make games that people enjoy playing. I think they should just make one game and ignore the fans that will pay money for sequals. Nobody actually wants to play Halo 3 or the new Zelda or any other sequal. How many people actually buy Madden or Burnout or MVP Baseball? Those games always sell poorly, right? Why should a company bother trying to improve successful games when they can roll out gems like Marvel Nemesis?

Hey, at least they can release in increasing numerical order... unlike Capcom.

Here we have Street Fighter 2, SF2 Turbo, SF3... SF3 EX + Alpha, ...Back to SF2, SF Alpha... SFA3...

For f*cks sake stop draggin your feet and make street fighter 4!!! Talk about milking the cow to death.

Also, James Bond Agen Under Fire! Get 2 or 3 friends, stick that game on multiplayer, turn the speed all the way up, one shot kills = The most fun you will haver have while staring at a TV.
