SF Alpha 3 D-pad pre-order bonus comin' to America
According to GameSpot, the Street Fighter
Alpha 3 MAX D-pad cover pre-order bonus will be making its way to America as well -- that is, only if you
pre-order the PSP port from Capcom's official web
site. (Highlight the dark areas of the product page to see the text if it appears black in your browser.)As you might recall, Capcom offered the cover to gamers who pre-ordered the game in Japan to make pulling off the direction-happy moves endemic to Street Fighter a bit easier on Sony's portable PS. According to the site: "This pad was specially imported from Japan and will work on most console and hand held systems on the market." It might not be as necessary on Xbox-controller D-pads, but it could come in handy on a DualShock.
The game should be out in about a week, so decide whether you want to order the full-priced $39.95 new release soon as supplies (and time) are limited. Just be aware that the permanent adhesive used to make the cover stick might not be so good at keeping your system's warranty in place. (Holy voided warranty, Batman!)

Has anyone imported this game and had a chance to try out the pad yet? Is it any good?

Check out the comment left by GameSpot's Greg Kasavin on the page linked via the post (his username is GregK). The pad sounds pretty good from what he says, though the permanence of its application is a bit worrying.
"I've used this thing and it makes a surprisingly big difference for the better, at least for fighting games. You gain some additional leverage on the PSP's D pad and it noticeably helps make special moves (like quarter-circle motions) easier to pull off. Still doesn't make the PSP's controls perfect for a six-button fighting game, though. The downside is it does stick out of the system a little bit, so besides potentially voiding your warranty, it's a little ugly. And once you stick that thing on there, it seems to be stuck for good. That's just my personal impression having played with it a little. I'll bring it up in the context of the Street Fighter Alpha 3 review as well."

I never really liked Alpha 3 to begin with. I'll just wait for the XBL version of SF2.
Where's Xmen vs Street Fighter, will full tag team support?

My brother just received his import version of the game. The D-pad helps alot. The problem is that D-pad can and will fall off. The sticky tape it came with isn't that great.

I don't like the new D-Pads, they're one axis, unline the old ones with older consoles where it was 4-seperate buttons, they're now one giant tilt-wheel,making it struggle to differentiate between up and right when using.
I like 4 seperate buttons, not one giant cross on a circle.
Thank you.
