Datel to release portable 4GB HDD for Xbox 360

So, I should be able to use this just like a thumbdrive then? A 4 gig USB drive that fits in my pocket could come in quite handy...

I don't understand, what's the point? The Xbox 360 HDD is already removable, it costs less, has more capacity, and most importantly the 360 can't write to other USB drives. Can it write to this?

The point is this thing comes pre-loaded with some decent, non-ported games so MS can stop with this fake "shortage" they're using to cover up the fact no one is buying the system in the numbers they had bragged they would last summer.

Definetly pointless. Well, pointless at this pricepoint. The smart move would have been to make a hard drive that fits into the current hard drive slot, but make it higher capacity than what Microsoft is currently offering. For $130 (which is what they are asking for this 4 GB drive) they could've probably built a 60 GB drive that actually replaces the current hard drive. I think most people that have core systems would prefer buying a 60 GB hard drive at $130, than a 20 GB hard drive at $100 (if they decided to buy a hard drive). Plus, you'd have many premium package customers that already have a hard drive that would want to possibly upgrade. I can't see anybody buying this. Or at least not enough people to make it worth their while.

I thought people were done buying into the M$ conspiracies.

If Microsoft created the shortage, they would have rectified it by now, because the conspiracy theorists said that they created the shortage to create a fervor over the holidays. They would have kept the supply low, and then flooded the market making everyone happy. It never happened. Every day that goes by is another day a person might just wait for PS3.

M$ didn't manufacture the shortage. They just couldn't make enough. Now they are moving back foreign dates because they can't make enough systems. I'm guessing M$ faked the moon landing as well.

I doubt MS would intentionally have a shortage of hard drives, they make a decent mark-up on hardware.

Datel just repackaged a decent product (for psp), and i suppose are depending on ignorant conusmers to assume it will work for save games, or think they need 4 gig of MP3s on an overpriced piece of crap rather then networking their 360 to there windows xp computer.

My point is more that for $130 ask yourself

1- would i rather spend that on an ipod / portable mp3 player with usb support.

2- Do you already have a computer in your house (with xp, or media center)

80GB of storage rather then 4GB and for even less $. Its still tiny enough to fit in your pocket and its powered through the USB port.

You can also use differnt size drives and differnt types of drive enclosures. Only an idiot would buy this Datel Garbage.

The Wednesday Fry's ad had the Seagate 5 GB 'cookie' drive for all of $80. It would be a far better value.

I have an external hard drive on my xbox 360. It is an 80 gb that i had laying around and had no use for. I stuffed it in a usb inclosure ($20 off ebay) and i've been golden with about 65 gbs of high bitrate mp3's for my gaming. I just wish that we could save game demos on the external drives! MS get on that one!
