Spoiler alert: Super Bowl results leaked
Okay, so these results aren't set in stone or anything, but EA has taken the
time to run the match-up for Super
Bowl XL in a simulated game of Madden 06 for the 360, coming up with the
following final score: 24-19, Steelers over Seahawks. We don't know how the game will end on Sunday, of course, but it would be sweet for Pittsburgh fans if Jerome Bettis really did finish his career in his hometown as the XL MVP with two touchdowns to his name (though a touchdown-fumble combo for the Hawks' Shaun Alexander wouldn't be as sweet for Seattle fans).
At any rate, here's to the prognosticators -- and here's to The Bus.

Bring the bus home!
GO STEELERS!
Vagabond Artist @ Feb 2nd 2006 6:13PM
I'm calling it 20-17 Seahawks over Steelers.
Alex K. @ Feb 2nd 2006 6:23PM
that's kinda funny, because there are other news/gaming sites out there reporting that the seahawks won the madden 06 game.
it's kind of a dumb news topic - if you set the computers against each other, they'll each beat each other about half the time. it's like saying "spolier alert: flipping coin results leaked"
SuicideNinja @ Feb 2nd 2006 6:27PM
That would be funny if the simulation ended up accurate. Other than that, some of us have better things to do this Sunday.
Ben @ Feb 2nd 2006 6:28PM
That sounds about right..except that the Seahawks will end up on top.
Dan Choi @ Feb 2nd 2006 6:28PM
For the record (regardless of what "other news/gaming sites out there" are saying), it's Steelers over Seahawks according to EA:

Pigwater @ Feb 2nd 2006 6:48PM
Us out here in the Pacific Northwest disagree. :)
DustyBottomsDA @ Feb 2nd 2006 6:52PM
Yeah I think ths Seahawks will win 30-17. Go Hawks!!
Rare Hare @ Feb 2nd 2006 6:54PM
can't stop the Bus, baby!!
GO STEELERS!!
fortunately, these EA Super Bowl matchups they do are generally accurate :-D.
nojok3 @ Feb 2nd 2006 7:21PM
to #3...thats usually what happens when you simulate a game...
Toast @ Feb 2nd 2006 7:25PM
Actually, I think there is some significance to this..well not directly. But if I remember correctly, every super bowl they have the teams face off in Madden on a Sony system and the results have had an amazing streak of accuracy. Of course this comes to you all as heresy I suppose, does anyone else remember this??
Dan Choi @ Feb 2nd 2006 7:30PM
Toast, I definitely remember the streak. I'm just not sure whether the streak was broken in the last five years or not. Anybody?
Dan @ Feb 2nd 2006 8:01PM
My money goes to Seattle: 24-14
Brooks C. @ Feb 2nd 2006 9:13PM
Have been following Rothlisbergr since his two years at Miami (OH). Never thought he would be NFL quality, and now he is in the Superbowl. Go Ben, Go Bus, Go Steelers.
Zsavior @ Feb 2nd 2006 9:22PM
PLEASE SEAHAWKS KICK THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF BIG BUM HAMBURGER AND KILL THE STEELERS!
Rare Hare @ Feb 3rd 2006 12:56AM
Brooks C (#13):
well, it's unfortunate that you can't spell his name then.
toast(#11): yes, it is true that the madden games played before the superbowl (usually by a member of each team) were very accurate in the predictions they made. i think the streak of correct outcomes was like 8 suoerbowls.
striegs @ Feb 3rd 2006 4:52AM
For the record, I just now pretended that the Steelers were a selectable team in Tecmo Bowl and allowed my five year-old brother to play as a reasonable approximation of the Seattle Seahawks, and conclusively determined that Pittsburgh will win by no less than 481 points. Also worth noting is that both teams will run the exact same four plays over and over and over again, compounded by Seattle's cunning strategy of arbitrarily running in circles.
Andrew Hsieh @ Feb 5th 2006 10:46PM
Well, I guess they were kinda right.
sigh.
