As Madden has become synonymous
with football and Tony Hawk with skateboarding, so has Tiger Woods become the staple in the world of video golf. EA
knows that Tiger's face on a box will sell a game, and they are not about to tread far from convention. Electronic Arts
today announced that they have secured the rights to use the golfer's name and likeness for the next 6 years, at
least.According to Metacritic, the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise has seen fairly consistent reviews, although trending slightly downwards - the lowest score being the 2006 re-release on Xbox 360. Expect Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2012 to arrive sometime in 2011, for PlayStation 4 and the Xbox 720.
EA drops 5% of its workforce, and earns 6 years of Tiger - I'm no mathematician, mind you, but 6 is greater 5 (converting units notwithstanding), so I think EA is coming out on top here.
