Metareview: 25 to Life (PC/PS2/Xbox)
25 to Life is a game that's generated an extraordinary amount of controvery over the last year, drawing
criticism from
Jacko,
a US Senator and even
the game's script
writer. Whilst these guys widely criticized the game for being an abomination from a moral standpoint, video game
reviewers aren't exactly favorable of the title either.
- IGN 31% - This review can be pretty much summed up by the
subtitle: "This game belongs in jail. So do you if you play it." That's a lot quicker than saying 25 to
Life has "graphics that at times resemble what ends up in a sink after 18 tequila shots in under an
hour", "highly questionable gameplay mechanics" and is an overall "flimsy product".
- 1UP 40% - "A 3D action-shooter that not only fails to innovate on any level, but rolls back
design and technological advancements to the early PSone era." Classy.
- GameSpot 57% - Ignore the
higher-than-average score, this review is just as critical of the game. "The third-person shooting doesn't
differentiate itself in any way, making it feel like a sad Max Payne clone".
Gamerankings gives 25 to Life an
average score of around 50%, irrespective of the platform it's on. If you hadn't guessed it by now, it'd be best if you
burnt every copy of 25 to Life in sight stayed away from this game.
