Online co-op (Xbox 360 delight #009)
We know you were bummed when Bungie was unable to include online co-op in Halo 2. We were. As simple as it sounds, including two-, three-, or even four-player gameplay can add an immeasurable fun factor to an otherwise solitary practice. Online PvP modes are one thing, but the ability to work your way through a virtual story with other human beings is an entirely different experience that has been almost exclusively limited to offline play. The problem is, the people I grew up gaming with now live hundreds, even thousands of miles away. The hope is that the Xbox 360 and its Xbox Live service will do something about this.I've already played through the PDZ co-op campaign over Live, and while the gameplay is mediocre and the plot atrocious, I genuinely enjoyed the experience-one can only imagine how brilliant a Call of Duty 2 online co-op mode could have been... barring any lag or setup issues. THQ's The Outfit will feature an online co-op mode. And what if Konami gets it together and re-releases Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for XBLA?
The Xbox 360 coupled with the Live service brings us the technology to not only play against each other, but to play together. We know Bungie knows this, let's hope plenty of other developers have taken notice too.

We hope so too! Please Bungie? Please? Heheh Or even for Metroid Prime on Nintendo even! Sony? Well, I thing everyone despite their console preferences should be able to have this capability.
And yes, I am a MicroTendo Fanboy!

Agreed.
I was so disappointed when we couldn't do CO-OP for Halo 2 even with System Link. Split screen in general sucks. CO-OP is great when you are tired of multiplayer and just want to "screw around".
But adding online multiplayer to Arcade classics will be the real kicker.

MicroTendo... Microsoft and Nintendo are opposites, but anyway...

More like:
And what if Konami gets it together and re-releases *The Simpsons* for XBLA?

can someone please tell me why they don't have a stereo headset for xbox live? why can't they just integrate the game sounds with the VOIP like a PC?

I definitely agree that online co-op play adds a lot to the fun factor of games, and PDZ is the perfect example. As pointed out above, the storyline of PDZ is . . . well, i don't really know what the storyline is since i always end up skipping over it, the gameplay can be frustrating, and the overall style of the game way too childish. But that said, online co-op by itself makes PDZ worth playing. Now if only my buddy would stop dying on mission 12 so we could finish the darn game! LOL.

Or what if, whoever made it, gets their act together and release ROCK N' ROLL RACING FOR THE XBLA.
I know, it's not a co-op game, but if you're getting your butt kicked by the computer, it becomes one.
Please, R n R racing.

Agreed. To be honest I'd rather than a co-op game than deathmatch. Working with a team is alot more fun to me.

Online Co-op is awesome...More games need to include that kind of co-op Ghost Recon 2 had over XBL..16 people against the cpu is great
Zak @ Feb 7th 2006 8:04PM
I believe the new Ghost Recon (GRAW) is supposed to have a xblive co-op mode. I read on IGN that it will have a co-op for up to 16 people.
Can that be possible? I hope so.
Either way, GRAW will be my next purchase for the 360.

Errm, that game had a split-screen mode for co-op play. And it was awesome! Easily the best multiplayer racing experience for SNES, closely followed by Mario Kart.
Did I say Starcraft? Oh well that's not old enough I guess. And Xbox 360 certainly doesn't have the processing power to work with a high end optical mouse ;-P

Reasons the Idea of Getting an Xbox 360 Soon Makes My Mouth water (#001):

Adding XBL support for online co-op would be just what the doctor ordered. The co-op campaign mode actually made Halo for me (even over the other team multiplayer modes), and co-op makes exploring in tedious dungeon crawlers that much more exciting for my game-playing friends. Making it a staple of Xbox Live would be the best thing they could do for the service.
