RealNetworks, the company behind RealPlayer and RealArcade, has purchased Dutch casual games provider Zylom for a cool $21 million. The acquisition will result in an extra seventy games being available through the company's RealArcade service. Next Generation posits that this is a sign of "continuing interest in the potential of the casual games market."
However, if the Alexa traffic ranking image above is to be believed, this may be an attempt to turn around the site's faltering traffic figures. The fact that this is Real's third acquisition of a video game related company within the last two years suggests that this wouldn't be the first time RealArcade has struggled to attract gamers.
