Awesome! Another port! Yay! I hope this one is watered down too!

Finally, a console port for the PSP. I was SOOO sick of all the original, made for portable, games out for it.

Actually, I bought the PSP because the PlayStation banner promises a certain set of titles. I would say then that there are not enough ports on it. I look at my GBA collection and I see NES remakes and SNES re-releases. I was very happy with them.
So far, there's a SOCOM, a GTA, a Hot Shots Golf, Wipeout, and Twisted Metal. Some of these franchises have been PlayStation titles since the PS1. Tekken is what we need.
Hopefully it will not be another card battle game like Armored Core, Metal Gear, or Devil May Cry have become... What jokes...

Most of the Tekken franchise is impressive, so why not put it on the PSP? I hate the way people suggest that ports have no point. I personally don't have PS2 so when a game comes to the PSP i consider it to be a new game. And FYI, Wipeout Pure was not a direct port of anything, neither was GTA: LCS.

Wonder what features will be stricken from this version? but more importantly what new features will they half-assed implement?
I'll stick to Tekken 3 thank you very much.

God! Why do you people keep complaining? It's not like the system is called Playstation Portable... Wait. Sorry. Carry on fellas.

To be fair just b/c Tekken is coming to the PSP doesn't mean it is a "port." There are plenty of Nintendo franchises that have been brought to the DS.
The key thing we have to see now is whether they just port Tekken to the PSP or see if they try to come up with something clever that takes advantage of the systems capabilities.
...BUT going off the current reputation of the PSP, somehow I doubt they will come up with something completely original.

wow, you are all negative morons.
its not a port from what i read, as we dont know what it really will be.
i highly doubt its a port and im guessing its gonna be a orignal tekken title because the ps3 version will come out around it as well.
i hope it has online play and it can link up for extras to the ps3 tekken game.
ill be happy if its a tekken tag with the new charaters introduced in tekken 4 and 5

Wow #11, how does it feel being a fanboy? I own a PSP and don't own a DS (yet). Face it kid, console games are not meant to be played on a 4" screen. And just because there's new characters or artwork doesn't mean it's not a port or that it's original. If it's a fighting game that uses the tekken style fighting engine, THEN IT'S A PORT AND NOT ORIGINAL!!!

#12 Fanboy's don't usually express the need to get the other company's hardware... and your saying Tekken 2 was a port of Tekken?
#11, hell, I would buy a straight port of Tekken Tag as is. Just get me some worthwhile games on this system!
I think Tekken 5 was meant to have online multiplayer. The challenge mode (am I right?) matched you up with players with different names and skill levels. That system by which opponents are matched would work great online.
#7, How did Electroplankton get involved in a thread about Tekken? Looks like poop? I bet you think it's a video game...
Anyways, when the PSP was first announced officially, I actually thought there would be a way to play PS2 games on it. Most of my friends still think that.
But it seems we're expected to rebuy stuff we already have. GTA, it's just not different enough to get me interested. Each GTA game has had a huge advantage over the last, but this one is a big step backward. Socom is dumbed down. Price of Persia is last years game. Same with SSX I hear.
It's as if Sony wants us to buy our stuff over again. Kinda like UMD movies.

yo number 12, how am i a fanboy because i expect a new tekken for the psp?
i have both a psp and ds and i like both equally. the ds is for 1st party games and new ideas and the psp is for everything else that i want in a handheld.
as for calling me a fanboy because your a negative fool just shows how childest you are.
you sound like you dont even own a psp by the way you diss the portablity funtion on it.
the game isnt nessasarly a port just because the franhise is on a console. you should learn what a fanboy is and what ports are.
this is my point with negativity. geeks like you dont deserve new consoles because all you do is wine about the ones you already got

I agree with the point about a set of games we're going to get on PSP that are proven successes on Sony consoles. Boku no Watashi Katamari Damacy is just one title I canNOT wait for. Wouldn't mind seeing a Roll Away (aka Kula World/Quest from the PSone) on PSP as well.
Anything but another racing game, t'be honest; I've only had my PSP since September and I've still got more racers than owt else...

Maverick Hunter X is a shining example of how good a port can be on the psp (whoops nintendo, could the ds not handle a super nintendo game?). Not only is the original game improved to take advantage of the psp's capabilities, but a whole new style of play is available when you get to play as Vile. Not to mention the great megaman movies that are included...
I guess what im trying to say is DONT diss this game when you know NOTHING about it...ports can breathe new life into a game and if any system can do it the psp can!!!!

Tekken 3 was the best fighting game for ps1. Tekken Tag, Tekken 4 and 5 were all great for ps2. Arguably, Tekken games were the best on ps2 as well. Even so, you may say that Soul Caliber is better than Tekken on ps2. But, Soul Caliber and Tekken are from the same maker, Namco.
My point is, Tekken and Namco has not really disappointed us this far, and I believe they won't disappoint us now.
For me, I would like to see and sequel to Tekken Tag Tournament. Perhaps Tekken Tag 2?

AND... Tekken is very respected by Sony. It earned a spot on its trailer reel last year at E3. Sony SHOULD make sure Namco produces a good game, and not "just a port".
Although there have been successful ports for PSP, eg: X-Men Legends II.

Woohoo! Finally Tekken on the PSP. I've been waiting for this since the day the PSP came out. I cant wait for some wifi-multiplayer ass kicking, and if they do it so that it can play against a PS3 then that will be even better!
I really think this could be the killer app for the PSP...

How many of you would play your PSPs if:
Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Soul Reaver, Duke Nukem, Syphon Filter, Castlevania, Silent Hill, Driver, Twisted Metal, Medal of Honor, Bushido Blade, Soul Calibur, Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo, Jet Moto, Tony Hawk, Legend of Dragoon, Spyro, PaRappaTheRappa, Dino Crisis, and Rayman -all from PSOne, were ported onto the PSP?
Would you still play them?

First off the Mega Man movie in the game is not "great"...its a neat addition but the movie is cheesy.
I own the game...and I love it...I love how they changed some stuff so it wasn't an exact port.
BUT the fact that this game wasn't on the DS had NOTHING to with it being uncapable of running it. Instead of getting ports the DS has been getting either new games or old games/franchises with a touch screen twist.
Fun game? Yea.
Would I have bought the game if it was more then $25-30? No...I would have rented it.
Killer app? Nope.
