It's called Enamel Navy... I'm guessing it's Navy Blue which is actually a dream come true for me. Sweet!

It says Enamel Navy, not Black. And from looking at the animated site, it's clearly blue.

I like the idea of the DS Lite, but my DS still works fine. I could try selling it to someone, but I'll need to handle it before I make any judgements.

A LACK OF BLACK AT LAUNCH IS AN ATROCITY TOWARDS MANKIND. They FINALLY fixed the ergonomics of the DS and they ruin it with an initial NAVY launch???!?? So sad.

Oh - I will still buy one (preordered it already).

I'm a PSP user, and I always though the old DS looked like something from the 70s, but I have to hand it to Nintendo, this new design is pretty damn sexy.

SURPRISE another DS color! Run, don't walk to the store.THere will be more colors people. Black may be on the horizon. It may be called Bombon Onyx, or be released as a special edition with Metriod Prime Hunters .Wasn't that demo with the first DS a long time ago?

It should probably be noted that the US manual said that the DSL's strap was sold separatly.

Nobody seems to have brought that up. But I guess it's not a big deal - my thumb nub stractched my screen, and other than that the thing is pretty useless.

Looks better than the FCC ones. Of course, more care probably went into setting up these shots.

Everytime I get a new handheld from Nintendo they release it in a different color, and it's always a color I wanted it in... I already own DS and it does the exact same thing so this time I'm waiting until they release a DSL in black.

If I preorder one of these from Lik-Sang, are all the menus and everything going to be in Japanese? Did the original DS have US-specific firmware?

"If I preorder one of these from Lik-Sang, are all the menus and everything going to be in Japanese?"

No reason to think it'll be different than the original DS, which asks you to set the language when you first power it up.

The initial language will no doubt be Japanese, meaning it might be a little tricky getting through those initial menus. But once you get it set to English, you should be good to go.

Of course, I don't work for Nintendo, so don't take what I say as gospel. But that's the way the original DS works.

I'm all about that "ice blue" color - it's not *too* girly but it's not trying to look "badass" like a dark color would be. I'm so sick of black; that's such an American color. We need to expand our color horizons. I always try to get the wackiest color available whenever I have a choice.

Does anyone realize that "ice blue" is in reality "Nintendogs Best Friends Teal Bundle" blue?

Also, I wish the buttons were more "revo-controller" like, in terms that they have a tranparent front.

And where my special famicom/super famicom edition ds?!

I have a question for DS owners: do GBA carts stick out the bottom when inserted? Or are they flush? Sorry, I've just never even seen a DS in person, much less played one with a cart inserted.

I only ask because looking at the pics of the DS Lite, it looks like the protector is short, and the GBA cart sticks out as far as the difference:
http://www.lik-sang.com/images/images//large/nintendods-lite-pure-white5.jpg

So
will that cart actually sit flush, or does it stick out?

I have a CRT LaCie monitor that has a dark blue housing and let me tell you, that dark blue does amazing things to make the screen "pop" with color and contrast. Much more than a dark gray or black monitor... surprisingly so.

I hope the Enamel Navy comes to the states!

The dark blue one looks TOO damn sexy.
But i was wondering something....
they released some screenshots of the DS lite and how it looks in real-life, right? Well, why does the plastic look so different (and cheap) from the plastic used on the DS's displayed here? Please, HELP ME!!!

Umm...well on the original DS the GBA games fit in perfectly and you wouldn't even know there was a GBA game in there if you didn't look. I'm sure the case will be the same with this one.

I just sent my email to Lik-Sang.com to have them change my color to Enamel Navy. I'm kinda bumbed that there isn't a black but I didn't choose white mainly b/c dirt would show easier on white plus the first around the buttons too.

Hopefully there isn't a delay when Lik-Sang gets the DS's in stock. *crosses fingers*

The sit plush in the original, here they stick out a little, the ds is MUCH wider than the GBA:SP so stikcing out carts wont be obstrusive, and the carts wont stick out anywhere near that much, no need to worry about crashing your game. Its just an aesthetic thing, though this will doubtless annoy some people.

this looks cool but i think its just a scam like the sp/micro and gb pocket/pocket lite/color. cmon. if you make me buy a handheld. make me like it. nintendo spends so much time making upgrades of their systems. they should use the energy for better purposses. i will admit it looks tight, especially the white one. but i still like my electric blue reg ds color better. they try to make people buy the same thing over and over and over. nintendo has the best games and systems, but im stcking with reg ds. however, if you dont have a ds, the lite looks pretty pimp i must say

Oh... one more thing. Will the charger work in North America? I know you have to buy different plugs and such when you travel to Europe but does this apply to Japan as well? If it does pose a problem I could always use the cord from my old DS, right?

The charger for the old DS doesn't work with the new DS. But the imported chargers will work, as Japan uses the same voltage the US uses.

Nintendo DS Gets TV Channels and Web Surfing!
The Nintendo DS just became one sweet machine! Nintendo announced a few new things that'll be coming to Japan soon and, hopefully, the rest of the world.
Voice Over IP - So you can chat with your friends through your DS.
Web Surfing - With a web-surfing cartridge you'll be able to visit Kidzworld.com on your DS!
TV - A new add-on will let you watch a TV channel that's designed for mobile phones.
Combine these features with the DS' ability to go online and you'll be able to use it as a mini cellphone, web-browser and television. Dang! I got it all at kidsworld.com
