American alpine skier Bode Miller may have blown his shot at winning an unprecedented five gold medals at the Winter
Olympics in Torino, but he now has an NBC-themed cell-phone game to add to his list of titular accomplishments. With NBC Sports Bode Miller Alpine Racing, Abandon Mobile hopes to bring "[s]imple, intuitive, three button skier controls" to popular Olympic competitions such as the Downhill, Slalom, and Super-G events on Cingular, Sprint, and Verizon wireless handsets. Miller's game and an NBC-themed figure-skating title will reportedly "be branded and supported by NBC Sports including
promotion of the games on air during NBC Sports broadcasts."
Televised support for the speed-skating game also listed on Abandon's site is as yet unconfirmed, but there are other winter sports getting some development deals in wake of the Games as well. And lest we forget, 2K Sports has already got the rather lackluster official Torino 2006 game out and about in stores now. Now if only they'd bring back the classic Winter Games by epyx, then game publishers would really be onto something.
