New Lara Croft chosen to represent the Raider for Eidos
Eidos has a new flesh 'n' blood face to represent the Raider
in its revamped action franchise: model
and actress Karima Adebibe.Karima has apparently worked as a sales assistant at British clothing chain Topshop, with possibly a small role as a "Sacrificial Maiden" in AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) to boot.
Whether the choice of actress will apply to the updated Lara's appearances beyond the UK was not detailed--on a news round up which claims to cover "what's happening in the World of F.U.K." (Er, Future UK? Fastcars UK?). It is nice, however, to witness a bit player in a movie where aliens train in an ancient temple move on up to tomb-raiding protagonist... or at least the model for one.
[Thanks, Charles Bronte]

She looks like a brunette Sarah Lane. (From the Screen Savers...that _was_ a good show...)

"Isn't that the girl from, Alien vs Predator."
Yea it is...read the story and you would have known that without having to post it. :-P

I read elsewhere that there have been six other models representing Lara. Rona Mitra is the only one I recall. Is there a gallery online of all of them? Does Jolie count as one of the seven?

She's even hotter than Morgan Webb!

Damn...now that's what I'm talkin about! At least she has some meat on her...lol...j/k
She will be the ONLY reason I stop by the Eidos booth this year...now if only they can make the games good.

Wow, she is attractive and, unlike Angelina Jolie, isn't white trash!
jennie @ Feb 15th 2006 5:07PM
Isn't white trash? You've clearly never been to Topshop.
John Molina @ Feb 15th 2006 5:16PM
Angelina rocks over anyone else as Lara. Sry.
SID SPACE @ Feb 15th 2006 5:22PM
Eh? jennie, no I haven't and (after a quick Google search) I'm not sure what a UK based female clothing retailer has to do with anything.

NO! Where the hell is Angelina Jolie? I guess they couldn't afford her this time. :/
jennie @ Feb 16th 2006 11:57AM
SID: The new Lara used to work at Topshop (see the post above!). It's a really chavvy clothing chain. Topshop girls are rubbing shoulders with chavdom, if not chavs themselves; and (as far as I can puzzle out from across the Atlantic) chavs are the British equivalent of white trash. QED. :-)

"NO! Where the hell is Angelina Jolie? I guess they couldn't afford her this time. :/"
Angelina Jolie was NEVER the person Eidos used as their Lara Croft model for trade shows (ESPECIALLY E3.)
Don't some of you guys know how to read?
SID SPACE @ Feb 16th 2006 3:43PM
Thanks, Jennie. That was helpful and informative.;)

Thank you, Jago! I am so sick of people comparing the Lara models with the Tomb Raider movies. They're completely different!
I'm a huge fan of Karima. She's definitely one of the hottest Lara models.
