Nintendo 1995 advertisement
44
The above Nintendo promotional video from 1995 showcases Yoshi's Island, Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country 2, and more along with a preview of the N64. Please tell me this wasn't cool back then, because it sure isn't today. Past history aside, whom do you feel has the best current console game ads?
[Thanks, Back_Lit]

I actually thought that was pretty cool, corny theme kinda, but a cool kinda corny. The N64 part was the best. Made me think of like when they'll unveil the Revolution. The beta clips of N64 games were great. The final versions look so different! They even had the crazy Beta LoZ OOT Shots!

It's better than:

The whole video reminds of MTV Sports with Dan Cortez from the mid-90s:
Cheesy acting and rock music combined with crappy "in-depth" coverage.
Does anyone remember that foul show?

360 has the best commercials by far.
And the PSP, I would rather watch that crappy Nintendo ad over and over than see one more of those horrid commercials.

I guess you guys are too young to have seen Twelve Monkeys in the 90's.
The best ones are Sega Dreamcast's early 3d ones & Super Smash Brothers "Happy Together"

Any Nintendo commercial featuring people dressed in costumes to look like Mario and Co. are usually gold...
I also enjoy the PSP "Squirrel" commercials...

Did anyone else finish that ad and just go "Wow. That was actually better than most of the game ads out today." I know I did.
I actually learned stuff, it wasn't just a blatant BUY OUR PRODUCT clip like those crappy PSP ones. I wish it were cheese I could play with because it would be more fun than half of those games. I swear that I seriously considered hooking my N64 up after seeing that.
Bring back the crazy Nintendo ads!

Who remembers this ad:
Kid: "What does Mario do... Here?" (points to a comically complex diagram)
Tough looking adult: (high pitched and fearful) "Do a little dance?"
I think it was for some contest.

I'd have to say that the really twisted magazine ads for the PS1 were the best. Otherwise, this just feels like 100% ugly. I love the dork in the TV, however.

If you ever need to use "whom," ask yourself if you're using it because it is the direct object of the sentence, or if you're doing it to look smart. This is a video game site. If you use "who" incorrectly, not many people will notice or care. If you use misuse "whom," you look like you're trying entirely too hard.
But thanks for the video. That was fun.

honestly, you'd be hard pressed to find commercials for anything related to the 360. it seems as though they don't even use and of their advertisement money until a game in the halo franchise is coming out. if you were to include all active platforms i'd say the halo 2 ad from a couple falls ago. i remember the first time i saw that commercial i got shivers down my spine and i DVRed it and watched it until i knew every word. but for consistancy i would have to say that sony has very good ads, i loved the ones for jak and daxter as well as ratchet and clank. for the time i'd say sony still has the best ads, i even like their slogan better, "live in your world, play in ours" is just so damn catchy. well, until the new halo gets near 360 owners will keep getting really lame ads and slogans like "jump in".
PS: i assumed that ARG's didn't count because if that was the case i'd have to say that microsoft would win that one. the ilovebees campain was the best advertising idea EVER, listening to the audio clips made me feel like i was there with the Spartan 1.1's.

This was cool in the day, but now it isn't.
I would have to say Nintendo's Puppet commercials (animal crossing and Super Smash Brothers) were some of the best. Console wise, I would go with the PS9 commercial. It gives Sony enough time to maybe stick to the specs it advertises too!!!

Dude don't you guys remember that awesome Nin-Power VHS about the rumble pack and Star Fox 64? They have these two guys from Sony and Sega. Sony was all greasy and small and Sega was this big fat dude, and they break into Nintendo to get info about the rumble pack?
Oh man. I have dreams about that one.
This one was rad too though, never seen it before.

Did anyone else notice the N64 flashed at the very end of the clip? It is pretty similar to a previous post where Revolution was subliminally flashed on the screen.
Hmmm... looks like Nintendo's marketing strategy hasn't changed too much.

What, 360 commericals? By far the best commercials ever is the Segata Sanshiro series. I mean, comeon, he saves Sega by catching a missile.

I think your paranoid, you seem to be grasping at straws there, why not go for the easy view where the only black man sells out, whereas the white guys needed to be tortured? or why don't you complain there are no hispanics? does it mean nintendo '95 hated them?
