"Interactions in virtual
worlds and online games give us more important information at an earlier moment than we could get while standing around
at a party," writes Mark Wallace for digital magazine Escapist. He
suggests that perhaps success getting to know (and getting to like) someone in an online game is a great way to begin a
real romantic relationship.
As a former guild leader within several MMORPGs, I've been directly responsible for bringing together two couples who married after they met each other in the games of Everquest and World of Warcraft. This can't be any different than the thousands of relationships that are formed through Internet matchmaking sites, and it may even be better, as it provides would-be romantic interests with a safe, unthreatening environment with numerous, team-based tasks conveniently at hand.
