Surfing the web with your Revolution?
Today, Nintendo announced the inclusion of a web browser for its portable
powerhouse, the DS. Naturally, if the DS is getting web surfing capability, wouldn't the Revolution also see some of
that action? According to Nintendo Gal, who thought to phone NOA to get the official word. According to the voice on
the other line, "Revolution owners will have the option to purchase that functionality."It seems fitting, but no concrete details have yet to be announced. We are hesitant to call this a confirmation, as the information came from a phone operator and not a higher-up (Shiggy, Iwata, or Reggie). With GDC and E3 coming up, though, that all could soon change.

I'm surfing the web on a SD television would be a lot of fun. But then I like to light myself on fire so why not.

Harken to the days of Dreamcast webbrowsing... ahh the joy of pecktyping...
Although technically you might be able to use your DS as a touchscreen keyboard/mouse for the Revolution which would be pretty sweet.

Have you ever tried browsing the web on a non-HD TV? SD TV resolutions are way too low for this to work so I think it's safe to say this ain't going to happen. This of course assumes you don't need to read anything on the pages you visit. If all you want this for is looking at pretty pictures, then more power to Nintendo!

Some browsers have the power to increase font size.
Therefore making it more readable in SD televisions.
Meh.

Well, I imagine that with a wi-fi connection, a browser becomes conveinent, if not necessary after a while. I'd be surprised if you aren't eventually browsing with Xbox 360 or PS3.

Microsoft, it's time for Marketplace to have this feature available as a download. Why the hesitation?
Hmmmm, I wonder if it has anything to do with virii and their penchant for attracting them?
Exo @ Feb 15th 2006 4:05PM
though I wouldnt use it all the time. it would be cool to have to look stuff up quickly with out having to go to your pc, and think about being able to download images and use them in games, like in Jet set for dreamcast.

oh jeez #5 is SG007 he is just making his rounds all over the place, that guy is such a loser, does he think he will ever get a loyal group of readers again? its amazing he ever did before with the nonsense he spewwed out.

Haha, danke, it's the best I could do for a 2-minute PShop job...I'm a failed writer, not a failed graphic designer :)

"Have you ever tried browsing the web on a non-HD TV? SD TV resolutions are way too low for this to work"
Yes I have. I used an extra computer I had for emulation, Counterstrike, AVP2, and internet browsing for visitors. I used S-Video and increased the font size a notch in Windows and in Firefox. Worked fine, and was the biggest "monitor" in the house. Said computer has since been given away and will be replaced with a laptop.
Personally, I like how Nintendo does it as opposed to Sony. Sony forces the price of such unnecessary add-ons to the consumer by including them, where Nintendo leaves them optional. Just like with the DS. If you want music, videos, and browser, you could get them. If you don't, you don't have to pay the extra for it. Thus your game machine can still be simply that: a gaming machine.
The only way a browser would be universally useful with a console is if the console had the ability to run a browser in the background. If you need to look up a code or a FAQs, you should be able to, and then switch right back to the game.
Or Xbox Live/Playstation HUB/Nintendo WiFi could just provide these features...downloadable guides that could be accessed with the Guide (or respective) button. Food for thought!

that picture rules the scene. Kawabunga doods. Web browsing...yawn

hey post 12 Blizz419,
Huh? Calm down with all your accusing, ha ha. I was being sarcastic. I think the image was meant to be a joke too. It's um *cough cough* interesting (but funny because it is) a photoshop image that looks like it took no more than the 2 mins the author said it took lol... And I'm not SG007 (who is that?). If you search my name, you'll see I use this name to post here. Or look at the link.

I still use my Dreamcast for web-browsing sometimes. It's convenient for checking certain blogs, e-mail accounts, web-sites, et cetera, because I'm at the TV anyway. If I could use my MSN IM on Dreamcast, then I wouldn't need a computer. In other words, put MSN IM capability on this new nintendo revolution, and I might buy it ... unless someone tells me a way to use MSN IM on my dreamcast ... hmm ... come to think of it ...

I believe this is where the computer screen output comes in.
Pikachelsea @ Feb 16th 2006 3:25PM
I really don't see what the big deal is about using a video game system to surf the web. And yes, I'm a Nintendo fan. Since the DS and Rev have to be in range of a computer in order to go online anyway, why don't you just USE THE FRICKIN' COMPUTER.

Score a major victory for Opera. I've been using Opera since it was still small enough to fit on a floppy, and I never turned back.. Go Opera!
