It has been long rumored that the Nintendo
Revolution has one last secret to give up. Speculation has run rampant on everything from built-in video projection to
"floor vision" to crazy GUIs and multimedia capabilities. But maybe, just maybe, the big secret is simply a
surprising extension to the ground-breaking control scheme that Nintendo has already premiered with its gyroscopic
controller. Maybe the answer to Nintendo's last Revolution secret has been right under our noses the whole time... or,
more appropriately, right under our feet.ComputerandVideogames.com is reporting that several sites have gotten wind of a possible foot controlled peripheral that is fully integrated into how the Revolution controls certain games such as first-person shooters. The foot pedals would provide the means to actually move, while the controller and thumbstick handle aiming/firing and looking/turning respectively. It makes some degree of sense, but seems somewhat counter-intuitive to Nintendo's "make games simple" mantra of late.
Fact or fiction? With so much noise surrounding the little-console-that-could, it's difficult to make a call. Hopefully, GDC and E3 will give us the answers that we're all waiting for.
