Thanks m3mnoch. You put into words what a lot of us feel about HDTV, not necessarily digital signals. I think of HDTV EXACTLY the same way I think of a big screen...makes a nice experience but I'm happy with my 32" tube TV because I only paid $350 for it. You deserve another star.

Lone Star,

I'll just throw these out because I always revel in a good debate. You can have the last word if you want to respond though since I don't want this turning into a topic on Constitutional Law.

I'll admit that quoting one of the broadest definitions of the Executive Branch is a bit of a stretch to make my point, however isn't that what a good lawyer would do? What's hard to communicate is what the Constitution meant by 'execute the laws'. Congress often leaves gaping holes in their guidelines for these Federal Regulations. The specific entity often comes up with their own set of rules to fill in the gaps. In a way, many of these agencies, like the IRS border on making their own laws and policies.

Whether or not they should is a matter of great debate. Did the founding fathers mean for this to happen? It's very hard to say but one can easily see that the Executive and Judicial Branches seem to have gained some edge over the Legislative in recent years. I guess it all falls back on the 'Is the Constitution a living document, do we adhere to the spirit of the law? Or is the Constitution static and in issues of Consitutional Law, the letter of the law should take precedence? But I don't think we'll ever see a conclusion to that debate here on Joystiq. ;-)

Scooby,

I agree with you there. While I think that we will never see a resolution to this debate here, I'm not sure we'll ever see one in the wider context either. That is, unless someone who is strong enough comes along and forces us to accept one way or another -- which, at this point in time, is a stretch of the imagination, but should be something to be wary of anyways.

Thanks for the compliment, but I see what you mean with that whole Lone Starr thing. :) That movie was fantastic! lol

DIGITAL IS NOT HD jesus christ quit spreading this bull shit.. Yes, HD is Digital. No, Digital is NOT HD.

Half the homes in the US probably already have Digital. If you have a cable box and Time Warner cable then you already have digital. Does it mean you have HD? No. Not at all. They aren't one in the same.

Get it through your fucking heads.

Actually, black & white TVs were still quite popular and common when I was a kid. The Atari 2600 (and other game systems of that time) all came out with support for B&W displays because a LOT of people hadn't upgraded to a color television yet. It was a "luxury" to have color. It was the same image, after all, right? Color just had more detail and information.

Just like HD versus analog.

I had to play COMBAT in black & white for a year. This is no different than the people who are insisting on playing games on a SDTV.
