nice to see that the delights are starting to catch up to the annoyances...lol.

I don't have the big media remote, but the one that came with the premium package, and I have to admit, my 360 is now the center of all music played in my apartment. Got it hooked up to my home theater audi system with the optical cable and I just stream everything from PC and control it all with the remote. Not to mention the cool windows media visual effects things are neat to just having dancing around on your TV screen when your listening to music. The idea that I can just DL a song on my PC, turn on my 360, and stream the audio as in game music without ever having to transfer it to a CD is awesome. I love it.

I heard this before but haven't tried it yet but im definitelty going to do this from now on, it was so annoying to keep having to go to the guide to change a track. I feel u dsub but the only problem (or my own XBOX annoyance) I have with streaming music from my pc is that that the 360 only list your music by id tags and it doesnt just use the file names so I cant find any of my music in the places I think I put them because it separates them by album, artists, etc. etc. so the only thing I can do is retag all of my mp3s which will take forever and not worth it in my opinion but maybe one day.

I own the universal media remote, and I really like it for the most part. It works really well with the XBox media center extender functionality.

I have one major pet peeve though. I can never tell if the remote is in "TV mode" or "XBox mode." So I'll end up turning on my XBox when I wanted to power on the TV. Is there something I'm missing to know which mode I'm in?

The Xbox 360 is painfully lacking any "shuffle" mode for randomizing through large song archives. That's a standard feature on digital music players now!

And, you can't store playlists for songs on remote computers.

I hope they add these features in future updats!

The only reason that the delights are able to catch up with the annoyances is because James Ransom-Wiley only has two annoyances to date - the red rings of death, and non-transferable save data on the HD. And one of those two things will make anybody mad; MS fanboy or not.

Vladimir Cole on the other hand has a much more balanced annoyance to delight ratio. Vladimir for president in 2008? I think so.

Justin, there is a shuffle mode. Just press the button with the two parallel arrows running in opposite directions. When activated, it will glow faintly.

it reads the tracks based on what folders they are in within the shared "My Music" folder under "My Documents" so all I do is download the song, and put it in the proper folder for the artist, and the album within that folder if necessary. Something I've also been doing is just compipiling playlists in Windows Media Player, and then just opening the playlists on the 360. It will read them just fine. Actually, I wish it did use id tags, then you wouldnt have to put the stuff in the proper folder, as it would organize them on it's own. The good thing is, all this can be updated with a dashboard update at some point in time.

Justin, I'm not sure what you are referring to here. I create a .m3u playlist, drop in my shared 'My Music' folder on my computer, and the XBox 360 plays it just fine.

Have you actually tried to use any of these features?

Playlist are recognized. The only problem I have is that it takes awhile for the 360 to recognize and list all the songs I have stored on my HDD. I don't know how often it updates the list, but I'll have disconnect and reconnect to update the list.

Anyway, does it work with subscription music service like Yahoo and Napster?

Does anyone know if there's a "random" mode for your music? So far I've only been able to play songs in alphabetical order. There has to be a random setting I'm missing, doesn't there? Anyone?

Read The Fracking Manual!

The icon on the far right on the player shows two arrows pointing up/down. Press that button. Now your music is random/shuffling/not in order.

Jeezopete, you guys need to learn to use your equipment!

Sloopydrew - Yes, as James mentioned above, you just need to select the button that has the up/down arrows.

I've been using the remote to change songs since I got my 360 streaming music from my Mac. Being able to stream songs is great, not only do I not have to reburn all my music onto the 360 HD, but it doesn't take up any space at all. Plus, it reads all of my iTunes playlists.

Badvermin,

All my 360 does when I hit that button is play it in reverse alphabetical order (Z-A). It doesn't randomize the songs.

That's bizzare. I wonder what is causing the problem.
I had burned a few cds and am currently using Twonky and both worked perfect for me.

Are you using Connect360? (I haven't used that one)

It'd be nicer if fast-forward and rewind worked. That part ranks up as an annoyance for me.

I'm strongly considering picking up one of those crazy Logitec UBER 360 remotes (the one that's like $100) I'm just sick of not being able to control all my stuff with one remote. Obviously, most remotes aren't going to be compatible with 360 yet, and my universal remote that I have now will only change the channel on my cable box, and turn my TV on. I have a Samsung HTIB system, and I have yet to find a normal universal remote that will control it all the same. Those logitec remotes, and lots of others like it can be connected to your PC and you can set them up in windows, and you can DL new codes when new items come out. It also has a learning sensor in the back, where all you have to do is shoot your old remote into it and it memorizes the command. Pretty badass. I think it'd be worth $100.

@Nossy

The xbox works with subscription services. I use yahoo, and its cool that I can download as many songs as I want on my pc, and then play it on my 360.

dsub-

I have the logitech remote. it's definitely worth it. coolest thing about it is one-touch on and off for all components: just press "play xbox360" and your tv, reciever, and the 360 all power up or shut down at once! Great stuff. There's a small learning curve, be well, well, worth it.

Just hooked up an ipod to the 360 last night, and what an awsome setup! Anyone know how to make the music playlist pick up where it left off instead of it having to be restarted every time you change games?
