Not to
give away the ending of a 73 year-old movie, but the giant
gorilla dies at the end of King Kong. That
said, there might've been a more financial reason to add the alternate
"happy" ending in the King Kong video game, co-developed by Peter Jackson and Beyond Good
& Evil's Michel Ancel. According to an interview on Yahoo! Games, Jackson and Ancel might possibly be
developing a sequel to the monkey's misadventures in the big city. The quote, credited to Mr. Jackson: "I have been in discussions with Michel Ancel and the Montpellier team, but there is nothing to share at this point in time"--while not exactly a confirmation, it does give Ancel fans something to look forward to.
While not a top-seller, King Kong was impressive in its atmosphere and lack of a Heads-Up Display. What would you like to see improved in a sequel?
