Has anyone here played the 'master quest' version of OoT on the gamecube?

I know its late but i have just started after windwaker, its much more challenging ofcourse to its original but using the gamecube controller this time...its much better.

Happy 20th Zelda! (You don't look a day over 17)

My favorite was "Link to the Past" on the SNES. One of the few SNES titles I didn't sell off to buy new games. I think all I have left are SMB All-Stars, Zelda, Super Metriod, and my all time favorite import - Parodius.

Happy B-day! My best memeory was buying the original Legend of Zelda at Toy's R Us and taking the bus home and opening it up. A gold nes catridge! It was a just well done adventure quest that you had to put in many hours of time to complete. Not common at the time.

Happy Birthday Link and Zelda! My most memorable moment with Zelda? Playing Zelda 1 with my Dad when it first came out. I was 5 years old. We would play all night long. One trusty night, Ganon turned to a pile of ash after we kicked his ass, and BAM we beat the game. The best part: We had a whole new game as a reward.

Majora's mask is my favorite, the whole idea of 3 days getting repeated over and over again and you having to be in some place at an specific time it was just... .. so... cool...

I had a wonderful Zelda party. Played Master Quest (I think everytime I play I find more and more cows) I mean whats up with that? I guess JabuJabu has an appetite for cows. Anyways I started and finished yesterday and than beat the original Legend of Zelda, gonna go through ALttP today. Damn playing that game makes me even more anxious to see whats in store for Twilight Princess.

Oh, Legend of Zelda. You are one of the two great cannonical videogame experiences. Whatever meaning and story was shoehorned into the game from Link's Adventure onward, the basic tenants of that which made the Legend of Zelda indeed legendary were all packaged in the first package. The Legend of Zelda is perhaps the finest videogame experience of all time. Even today.

Joystiq,

Methinks you should have a poll -

The best videogame hero, heroine and villain of all time.

Ovbviously there would be Mario, Link, Megaman, Master Chief, ... M.Bison, Bowser (should get an award for most princess kidnappings ever) etc etc etc

Kye

p.s. Thanx so much for the star. That really made my day!

ZeroCorpse, you are comparing Pen & Paper RPG's to Zelda. Zelda is not a role-playing game like the others you list. It is much more action-oriented. Other than maybe Zelda II, you don't earn experience, you don't get core attributes, you don't 'level up'. Link gains most of his power by collecting items (i.e. Heart Containers), or by talking to specific people (i.e. Fairies in Caves). The player gains power by understanding the attack patterns and weaknesses of the enemy, and a finer understanding of the controls; sort of like how an experience system would play out in real-life.

I'm a big fan of Pen & Paper RPG's and their PC/Console counterparts. In fact, I've played almost every game you list. Zelda gives you the 'role-playing' aspect by really engrossing you into the world. However, it's not the same 'RPG-experience' that is usually associated with the genre. Its lack of character-depth components will easily turn off anyone expecting it play like a role-playing game.

As for my favorite Zelda moment... There have been so many. I would say my biggest 'wow' moment was the entire time playing the Wind Waker. Although I had played other cel-shaded games before, it was the first one where I truly felt like I was playing a cartoon.

All I'm gonna say is we all know how "popular" the Ys games are...

"Ultima series, Wizardry series, Gold Box AD&D series, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate (PC), and even the old Phantasie series."

You are comparing apple to oranges...plus the whole appeal of Zelda itself was the characters. Name one charaacter any of those games that is a worldwide gaming icon...

Jago...

Although not even in the same league as Link, anyone who's played the Ultima series could say that Lord British (I can't remember if that's one T or two) is a 'gaming icon'. Do I win anything for coming up with an answer?

But seriously, most of the games in ZeroCorpse's list intentionally don't define the main character because the developer wants you to be able to craft the character to your own tastes; i.e. Boy vs. Girl, Human vs. Elf, Fighter vs. Mage vs. Thief, etc.

I am 8 days older than Zelda!

My favorite game was OoT, and the whole thing was Nirvana all the way through, but after you grab the sword and return to the Temple, and Link looks at his hand a realizes he is big...well I think I almost cried.

#34 (bran), I think you just helped me decide my favorite moment - entering Gerudo Valley and hearing that theme song. That's still my favorite bit of video game music.

Other than that, I'm sure there were moments in the handheld games that I loved (LA was the first Zelda game I played), but I'm having trouble remembering them.

While there is no debate that Lord British is a gaming icon...however he is more of a "cult" gaming icon b/c he is only really well known by those who played those games.

If you were to show a picture of Lord British and Link, chances people will at least have some kind of idea who/where/why Link is relavent.

"the developer wants you to be able to craft the character to your own tastes; i.e. Boy vs. Girl, Human vs. Elf, Fighter vs. Mage vs. Thief, etc."

That is also another reason why comparing the Zelda series to D&D, Ultima, etc. is like comparing apple to oranges.

Considering Ocarina of Time was the first Zelda game I played - that in itself was my most (and has NEVER been matched) memorable experience.

Of course I did nearly have a heart attack when I saw the 2003 E3 press conference...

Does anyone remember watching the audience's reaction movie to the news? I wish I could find a link to that again…now that's a truly a memorable moment! :)

I remember beating OoT, and the first time I beat it 100%, a LikeLike stole my Blue Tunic and dropped me off a ledge, destroying any chance I had of ever getting it back. And because it was the tunic the Zora King gave me, I deleted my file.

Never did get 100% in OoT again.

And when I heard about WW, I refused to play it for the longest time because I didn't think it had any direct connection to OoT, but when my brother bought it and I saw the opening sequence (the one with the scroll), I realized how awesomely awesome the game was, if only for the connection to OoT. I beat the whole game through with only three hearts my first time through, no deaths, and I absolutely loved being in the Temple of Time.

I also managed to sing the ending sequence, making it out like an opera.

I'm hoping Twilight Princess lives up to those two games.

Wow, 20 whole years...
I'd say my most memorable Zelda moment was the final battle with Ganondorf in the end of Wind Waker. God, that was a fun battle. The awesomest part though was the final blow. ^_^
That was actually the first Zelda game I have ever beaten. From then on, I've made it a goal of mine to beat every Zelda game I own before Twilight Princess is released. Should be made a little easier, now that it's been delayed until fall. I have all summer now! ^_^

The best time I remember the most was...

Long time ago, back in 2600 days; I remember looking at an Atari booklet for the game Adventure. In the book showed a warrior about to enter a doorway of pure evil. I remember seeing that and saying to myself " I wish the game looked like that." Then, years later I am playing Ocarina of Time and I am about to go into the last door right before Ganon and I thought to myself "Man, I am finally here! I am about to wup the snot out of the evil that is killing this land! Right the f*ck on!"
That was the best moment in the history of Zelda that I can think of. That was tight!

Link to the Past, Hands DOWN baby.
That Game captured my entire imagination... i must've completed that game like so many times over, me and my friend would take turns in playing, 1 hour each.... good times. Orcarina of Time would be the next. Amazing stuff... whole new world of adventure. Then I'd say The Original. Cause you could just keep playing over and over. was Great fun.
