Uhm, I think the last thing I would want is to be able to see other xbox players. Lets face it, the number of hot chicks playing video games is small, palying xbox360 even smaller, and ones that have a camerra? Downright miniscule. Can't say I'd want to see Ub3r1337 _gam3r_407's cheeto's eating 16 year old's face on my HDTV. It's bad enough to listen to him.

I've grown to like the Eyetoy from Sony, but strictly for game playing (or exercise with Kenetic)...not for the video messaging. I can see using Live and the Camera as a cheap (X360 cheap...yeah..) video confrencing alternative, but nothing more.

Then again, maybe Rare will finally be able to do that face mapping its wanted to add in since Perfect Dark N64

I've said it before: I do not see how this will help the gamer as much as it will the stalker/pedophile. And quite frankly, I am perfectly happy playing online against anonymous players with no faces. But I guess it would be helpful to put a face with that rabid racist so I could punch his lights out some day.

Could someone please sell Microsoft a sense of style? Does everything they put out have to be ridiculously goofy and ugly?

Anyway, I think Sony's EyeToy has pretty much proved that these things are a gimmick. I know MS wants to use it for XBL, not just for offline games, but like other people have said, the last thing I would want is to see other gamers online. I mean with all the crap you have to hear on XBL, can you imagine the kind of garbage you're going to have to watch people do?

Related to that, what is MS's policy regarding people who perform illegal acts on XBL? Let's say a guy's in a lobby with other camera users and he starts taking off his clothes and jerking off. That's illegal in every state of the union (indecent exposure); if someone wants to file a report, is MS going to be cooperative?

I think you'll probably be able to mute video mute folks just like you can audio mute them in games.

I would get it just for the novelty if not too expensive. I might possibly be able to use it with my computer as well which would be nice.

I really don't expect a lot of folks show off anything they shouldn't unless they're in the industry and even then, they'd probably want to leave work at work.

I posted this on the other story, but it fits here even better. They had this same camera design at E3 2005, although I don't see the green ring around it in our picture.

See our Picture here.

i dont think many people would buy this. i mean why would you wanna look at faces of xbox fans?

thats so crap, what is the purpose of this? to video chat? then we have computers and msn to do that. look at the racism and swearing that goes on in xbox live, video opens up new possibilities.

anyone see the nex generation eye toy from sony? now that looks promising. aswell has having a video chat function, its got some sort of receptor. im talkin about those cup demos from e3, that was good.

ps3, dam i just love the black 1. i migh have bought the xbox 360 but the looks, the ugly hard drive at the top and the wierd shape jus puts me of.

the only thing good about it is the chrome dvd slot.

why wont the ps3 come out, i wanna play motor storm, dam that looks amazing.

you know what would be great, if ps3 was delayed a lil and came out with a 4x blu ray drive, the thought of loading times for vision gran turismo 5 is scaring me.

nx genaration begins with ps3 and nintendo rev.

and by the way, is anybody interested in the hd-dvd addon for xbox 360? i wud like to here from u lol.

The design of this camera is not new. That picture has been on every 360 demo kiosk since launch. And right under the picture it says Spring 2006.
I thought Joystiq was to bring us new information. Not stuff we have known about since november.

I've never even used a webcam before, so I don't think I'll be picking this up unless it offers some cool features. I'm more looking forward to the quick charger that plugs into the wall. I hate leaving my 360 on to charge the batteries.
