De La Soul does Parappa, "U Gotta Believe"
GameSetWatch
stumbled upon something special on YouTube: American rap group De
La Soul performing a song titled "U Gotta Believe" for the Japanese release of Parappa the Rapper
2.
Two Parappa music videos in less than a month? This is what nerd Heaven must be like.

I remember this back in Tokyo. The "S" in the top right corner is for Spaceshower TV, the alternative to the already existing MTV Japan channel. Also, this video had come out waaaaaay before the invention of the PSP, Xbox2, Nintendo DS, and the console's to come. Can't remember if it was before the Xbox was invented though?

Man I loved the way that game looked, from the incredible Rodney Greenblatt art to the super-cool 3D flat-sheets on the PS1, which they replicate with Pos, Mase and Trugoy here (although they don't all go by those names anymore).
I can't remember the correct timeline either - but it was definitely before the Xbox. Although this is from Parappa 2, I think it was right around the PS2's US launch, although this was a PS1 game.
On a side note, the Dreamcast game 'Space Channel 5' was supposed to be a fantasy-futuristic notion of SpaceShower TV saving the world.
We Miss You, Parappa!

It's too bad De La hasn't seen much success here in the States. They're one of the better rap groups out there. Although it seems like they phoned this video in. It was pretty horrible.

Hrm... Now... I love me some De La. I love me some Parappa. You would think this would be a grand slam! It's definitely no Reese Peanutbutter Cup. These are two great things that taste like $#!+ togeather.
(I would like to see MF Doom get in on this game)
