Top Spin 2 will be arriving April 3 for the Xbox 360, and GameSpot had a chance to put the first next gen tennis game through its paces. They were most impressed with its visuals, court atmosphere, opponent AI (especially in career mode), and the various party games.
I spent considerable time with Sega's Tennis 2K2 on the Dreamcast and Namco's Smash Court on the PS2, but I thought the original Xbox Top Spin had the best overall gameplay and graphics (I only wish the roster of licensed pros had been bigger). It looks like developer PAM will continue their tradition of dominance on the courts. However, this is no longer a Microsoft title, and as with most third party 360 software, will probably retail for $60. Will it be on your shopping list?
UPDATE: Thanks to Scott and dsub for noticing the correct retail price. While the 360 versions of NBA 2K6 and NHL 2K6 are still retailing for $59.99, Top Spin 2 is listed at $39.99 on Amazon.
