According to a report at GameDaily BIZ Microsoft is considering
entering the potentially lucrative Chinese market, despite fears of widespread piracy. Microsoft's Alan Bowman, general
manager of entertainment and devices for Asia Pacific and Greater China, said, "We're working with the government
pretty actively in trying to understand what it is we need to do. We're taking a very careful approach in China,"
elaborating, "About two years ago Sony tried to do something there and stumbled and it'll take them a long time to
repatriate that with the government." Nintendo developed the iQue, a unique console system specifically for the Chinese market, using downloadable content to eliminate the threat of pirated media. With the 360's Xbox Live Marketplace, it would be possible for Microsoft to develop a custom 360 with downloadable gaming in mind. Sony has a similar plan in mind for the PS3.
