We know how much research
firms love big numbers, and how reliable some of them can or cannot be. An analyst out of American Technology Research
has conducted a survey that leads us to believe that Microsoft is on track to meet and exceed its projected goal in the
coming months. The information reveals that Microsoft's restocking strategy could be able to provide up to six million
Xbox 360s by this June, a full million over their previous goal. P.J. McNealy, who did the survey, says that we could
even see around 12 million units peddled by the end of 2006.The sample was taken by visiting various retail outlets such as Best Buy, EB, Wal-Mart and more to try and figure out the situation on inventory. Apparently some of these are still filling pre-orders, while a few others had under a handful in stock. Only two stores surveyed had a respectable amount of around ten or so. We don't doubt there are still forlorn gamers out there still waiting to get their mitts on a console, so hopefully this projected inventory improvement will pick up so we can see some tangible results.
