The Nintendo PC casemod; NES HTPC

At ExtremeTech, John F. de Perczel has transformed an old NES console into a home theater PC using VIA's mini-ITX form factor EPIA motherboard and a 1GHz C3 processor. He says, "it streams music, surfs the Web, downloads movies, and runs NESticle like a champ. It won't, however, run iTunes visualizer in full-screen mode."
The page is dated 8/25/04, so we're willing to bet there are plenty of more powerful options available now if one were interested in updating the concept. How about shoving one of those new Mac minis into an NES?

Chris G., why don't you give me $500 or better yet $800 so I can get one of those new Mac Minis to shove into a NES?
The Mini-ITX based systems are far cheaper to put together than a Mac Mini.
Maybe I can get an old Cray and shoehorn it into my car.

I did exactly the same thing earlier this year except with an xbox - http://www.wootboot.com/xbox_pc.htm

Putting PC parts in an Xbox...
Isn't that kind of redundant?

Damn dude...you need to seriously optimize your thumbnail images. 700+kbs for a 350x280 image?
Nice mod though...

A friend of mine put a mac mini inside a nes case. I posted his project on my blog:

Good comeback Chris. My point being, if you don't have money for a Micro-ITX board, what makes you think that you can afford to stuff a Mac Mini into a NES?
C. Grant @ Mar 2nd 2006 8:59AM
Well, I couldn't afford either! That doesn't mean the power of the internet can't be bent to my singular, corrupted will!
