By the "two colors total"... do they have to be the blue and yellow, or do you allow your logo to be in different colors?

Joystiq: Who needs facts?

I kid, i kid. But honestly, I copyrighted that slogan just now, so don't even try. Seriously.

Only two colors?

There are 4 colors in Joystiq logo... not including white.

If you're counting the various gradients of orange, there are actually five colors - there are three echoes of the ball. But all the echoes can be produced with lower concentrations of orange, and would thus only take two colors to make.

For design purposes in this instance there are only two colours.

Blue and Orange, the EPS should have everything you need to get started, I don't think you need to worry about font as the joystiq text is included as a design in the eps not as font-based text.

Just to reiterate, white and black probably aren't counted as colours in this instance.

I wanted the font so I could add some other text in, using the same font.

So is there a limit on submissions? Also, by no IPs I guess that throws out all likenesses of established game characters?

A few questions:
- Can we turn in more than one design?
- What file format(s) for the submission?
- Are black, white, and grays not considered colors and thus useable? By only two colors, do you mean the blue and orange of the joystiq logo and nothing more?
- Are long sleeves acceptable (since they are often called "long-sleeve T-shirts")?

Eh, I'm a bit incompetent with the whole "visual design" thing, I'll just go with catchy slogans and a design placed appropriately. I've already got two.

Long sleeves are more expensive. We want to keep costs down. If your long-sleeved shirt design is very kick-ass, it could win, but cost is a consideration in judging.

When you're talking colors, you need to be more specific, because in the printing world, you usually get 2 colors and black/grey.

Is that the case here, or we just looking at the colors for the Joystiq logo? Because if there's only the blue and orange, you're going to be getting a ton of grayscale/no colors at all t-shirt designs.

Erm...I lack computer coloring skills (Photoshop baffles me) but I could draw out a slick design, ink it, and use, say, fill tool to color it or something, if that's acceptable @_@

Would love to design something, but the EPS file link is not working for me...it has a .ps file extension? Was it not saved properly as an .eps? or is it a Mac only file?

My PC with Photoshop and Illustrator can't open it :(

laserboyjc, this is a common thing when saving EPS files from 'teh interweb' on a PC. Jus' change the extension while choosing the location to save, or after it's saved.

Hope that helps.

First of all, the logo has only two spot colors. The "other" colors some of you seem to get caught up on are tints of the orange, where white is mixed with the spot color. There will have to be white laid under the squares if the shirt isn't white, so you might keep that in mind.

@22,
Gimp should open the EPS. After a good search on Google, it seems that there are several problems with Gimp and EPS files. You might need to invest in some software that handles EPSs correctly, like Illustrator or Corel Draw.

Sorry for another clarification, but white doesn't count as a color, does it? So it would technically be three PMS colors plus white?

"Submit as many designs as you like. Remember, we're looking for a good design, so we encourage multiple submissions because that gives us more to choose from."

Are we allowed to send multiple emails? Because Ive sent one, but I just made a new one that I like more.

Adam: I don't know, but I'm going to ask the designer. Don't let the lack of an answer hold you back from executing an idea, though.

I was also asked, "Does the "pong" part of the Joystiq logo have to be included? It limits to breadth of designs possible."

The entire logo doesn't need to be in the design. Do what you think makes sense.
