EA announces FIFA World Cup 2006
In case you're not already FIFA'ed out
from FIFA 06 and the newly released FIFA Street 2, you can get even more kicks from EA's upcoming
FIFA World Cup 2006, due in stores next month. The game will feature all the stadiums used in this year's
tournament and qualifying rounds, as well as 8-player support, online modes, and unlockable players. If EA's attempt to collect $50 from you three times in five months (for essentially the same game) has you seeing red cards, you can stick it to the man and buy Konami's Winning Eleven 9 instead.

This is a collectors game.
After all World Cup is the most observed spectacle on the planet, even more than the Olympic games.

I bought Winning Eleven 9 a few weeks back, and I have been playing it ever since. Every goal I've scored is different in some way than the last! It's miles ahead of Fifa.

I concur. Anyone who knows anything about soccer realizes the pinball, scripted gameplay in FIFA is a joke compared to Winning Eleven. Uniforms, licenses, appearances, formations, boots, and likenesses can all be brought up to par with FIFA through option files available anywhere on the web. A lot of people buy WE, get frustrated because they can't score and sell it because they don't put in the time to LEARN how to play soccer the right way.

You know, before I read the headline and I just caught a quick glimpse at the picture, I was wondering why EA would make an ALF game. The Sega Master System one was hardly a masterpiece (but who didn't love attacking enemies with ALF's salami?).
Though given how manic EA is about snatching up sports licenses, I'd be more surprised if a headline said otherwise. Like "EA does not have the rights to the World Baseball Classic."

Anotehr pathetic release from EA... could they sink any lower?

Actually, I was thinking the mascot looked like the more athletic feline cousin of the Bear in the Big Blue House. What the heck, though... Alf with more facial hair works, too.

I saw a few actual screenshots... and it's terrible. In fact, I think that they split their dev team in order to make 3 games in 5 months.
