Committed (Multiplayer) - play for 8 hours straight in multiplayer

they *might* want to rethink this one if they don't want videogames to be villified by the media more than they already are

I remember, when I was very young, playing NBA jam on the Genesis for 11 hours straight. I couldn't stand well or use my hands properly for the rest of the day. But you know what, I loved it. At no point did I do it for a better score or bragging rights or a leader board. I just played because I really wanted to play. there will be plenty of people who will easily get to eight hours of play at one time. Especially with online being fun to keep trying.

World Champion (Multiplayer) - climb to the top of the universal leaderboard

Oh not ANOTHER one of these.

This is not a good idea for an achievement, since it will be pretty much impossible to get.

How can video games be "vilified" by playing 8 hours straight? That's like saying you shouldn't watch an entire DVD or read an entire book from cover to cover when you purchase it.

I know that when I have a game and I enjoy playing online with friends, I can play for hours at a time especially if it's a new game.

I get pretty animated over BF2: MC, but 8 straight hours of it? I don't think there has been many games that I play that long outside of SP quests like GTA.

38-point challenges? Challenges worth 38 points?

Don't use a hyphen unless there's a reason.

I wonder what they mean by "8 hours straight." How long a break can you take to not have it considered "straight." For the first few weeks, I could get dedicated to playing it, but I still gotta eat and crap.

Tried to get the 8-hour achievement while playing Black, but I finished the game before I got there.

I hate the achievements where its impossible to receive. If only they could rethink the Achievements

Xboxyde.com has huge movies of the first level of GRAW. Looks like it might even live up to the hype.

#8: 8-hour achievement for Black? Huh?

Black is an amazingly short game. It can be completed in around 4 hours.
And I agree that the "climb to the top of the universal leaderboard" achievement is stupid.

I would say the 8 hours straight would be rough, but I did that on R63 many many times without even realizing it. I loved R63 when it came out. That was such a surprise considering I never ever got into FPS.

The eight hour acheivement concerns me in that those whoe are overly concerned with Gamer points (and joystiq leads you to believe that everyone is) will just log in, and join a room and just walk away after they are tired. These types of games already suffer from those that aren't playing, are team killing and so forth. These achievements, while inane to begin with, may possibly proliferate these sort of unwanted behaviors.

I disagree with you guys on the leaderboard achievement. I think this kind of stuff is great. I suppose you might prefer achievements like "get a first down" in Madden, but I think that achievements should be exactly that, achievements. If they are easy to get, then the arent achievements. Granted, some should be easier than others, but they should all be a challenge.

I agree that achievements like these are a bad idea. Achievements should be something that everyone should be able to get if they try hard enough. I've gotten 100% for Geometry Wars, Hexic HD, Marble Blast Ultra and Call of Duty 2, because their achievements had a steady learning curve. I think that the achievements for games like Perfect Dark Zero and Dead or Alive 4 aren't balanced correctly because many of them are almost imposible to get without exploits. I don't think that anyone in the top one percent of gamerscore leaderboards have gotten 100 percent achievements for both PDZ and DOA4 yet, and if they have, I doubt it would have been achieved through normal gameplay. From the looks of things, it seems that GR:AW will be added to this list. It's too bad that the game isn't out yet and some of us already don't look forward to the goals Ubisoft had proposed for us.

Can you just get online and let it sit there for 8 hours? What counts as being in "multiplayer" do you have to have one game be 8 hours? Does the time in a lobby count? wtf?

Who cares if you cannot get all the achievments. Call me old fashioned but i play a game just ot go through the story mode and play against friends. I hardly play online. I guess i am just used to the old days where the only way you could play against someone is if they were sitting next to you. Sop worrying about video games so much and do something with oyur life, like touch women. If you play a game eight hours straight you have way to much time on your hands and need to get a job or maybe two.
