PS2 dead, hints Official PlayStation Magazine

The Official PlayStation Magazine (readership numbers here) is on news stands, where we snapped a photograph of the cover, shown above. There are a few reasons that the headline copy, which claims that Black is "the last great PS2 game" is curious:

You can only claim that a title is the "last great PS2 game" once. You can be sure that the editors won't be doing it again, not if they hope to retain any credibility with their readership. This indicates that there really will be no more "great games," assuming the eds have any insight whatsoever into the remaining PS2 pipeline.
Isn't it a little early to announce the last stop on the PS2 train if the PlayStation 3 is still six to nine months away? If PS3 delays are as extensive as folks speculate they are, wouldn't a promotional rag want to save such an emphatic proclamation till fall?
Think of the poor developers! How many PS2 games are still in development? How does this cover make them feel? There's tears in our beers at the thought of it.

I honestly don't see all the hype about this cover. Sony has made great games which are shown through the gta series,the gran turismo series,metal gear solid,kingdon hearts, just to name a few.I don't see whats so hot about backwards capabilities which was actually brought to light by nintendo for the gameboy and wasn't to much an original idea by Sony, and Microsoft was actually smart about not adding that because it would defeat the purpose of it being a next generation system.Now back to this cover issue do i think it is the last great game absolutely not.Sony is going to continue making great games for the ps2 until people can afford the ps3, once again sony has made all this nonsense for marketing just like they did for the psp (which still isn't that great except for the joy of listening to music).I would hope Sony gets sumthing right eventually whether it be magazine covers or hardware for their systems,but for now the only thing they have right going for them is the consistency of producing great games and BLACK will definitely not be it's last.
