From the people that
brought you Contraband, a side project of
the rock group Cinemechanica, comes another video game/rock music hybrid: Megaband. The setup is very similar to
Contraband: Cinemechanica will provide the game's soundtrack, and players will pull out some Mega Man II and
play for the crowd, their progress projected onto a backdrop behind the band. Even if you don't like rock music, you
can still enjoy a trip down memory lane.Megaband's debut show will be this Wednesday, March 8th, at the Caledonia Lounge in Athens, Georgia. Barring some freak accident, I will be attending the show, so if anyone else is considering going leave a comment and we can all try to meet up before/after the concert.

I remember the AlexKidd games having some pretty kickin' music.
If they're going to stick to nintendo, I'd like them to do the Castlevania soundtrack. That would rock, but probably only if they did it in a progressive rock style like Rush or Genesis(back when Peter Gabriel used to sing for them).

1. minibosses suck. their "covers" are more like renditions. you're seriously kidding yourself if you think they're doing your favorite game soundtracks justice at all.
2. hearing the soundtrack -- complete with major sound effects -- played along to the game w/ fanservice quality accuracy is way better than just hearing the tunes.
