I dunno...the medley that the Minibosses did for Mega Man 2 was pretty damn sweet.

Sounds pretty cool so I'd like to go to it, but probably won't be able to (stupid midterms and papers and such)... oh well.

Yea obo
I remember the AlexKidd games having some pretty kickin' music.
If they're going to stick to nintendo, I'd like them to do the Castlevania soundtrack. That would rock, but probably only if they did it in a progressive rock style like Rush or Genesis(back when Peter Gabriel used to sing for them).

Minibosses > All other VG cover bands. Seriously, there's already enough versions of Mega Man 2, how about something else?

Minibosses > than everyone. They play live in this little crappy venue in Phoenix and when you're jammed together with a bunch of screaming, sweaty kids that know every note, it's awesome.

Their MM2 medley is amazing. No need for another.

Hey. Mike from cinemechanica/megaband/contraband/whooptydoband. Just wanted to make public our freakish reverance of both the advantage and minibosses ... these shows are definately not competing for their respective titles. This is just something we are doing for kicks because a) as a set, no game, 8-bit or otherwise, has better jams than MMII. Period. and b) as luck would have it we just happen to live down the street from a dude who can mash MMII in 40 minutes. We are all extremely, extremely psyched.

okay.

1. minibosses suck. their "covers" are more like renditions. you're seriously kidding yourself if you think they're doing your favorite game soundtracks justice at all.
2. hearing the soundtrack -- complete with major sound effects -- played along to the game w/ fanservice quality accuracy is way better than just hearing the tunes.

I'm with Jared, the mini-bosses suck. They can't play fast enough to do the songs in the right tempo, and they sound stupid. The Advantage are a much better Nintendo band, and Megaband was simply phenomenal. I know plenty of bands have done Megaman 2, but first of all, who cares, Megaman 2 rocks, and secondly they did EVERYTHING, as I had never heard anyone do the Heatman stage before, much less the sounds of the water dripping from the cave as you get to Dr. Wiley. It was the total Megaman experience, hopefully they will do it again soon.

From reading a few of these comments, it seems many of you don't quite "get" Contraband/Megaband. It's not just about covering the music. (I'm pretty sure they aren't even planning on doing any studio recordings) It's about having fun. It is a whole media experience. You are getting the music played as a soundtrack to the player's playthrough. When he picks a level, you hear the boss select theme. When he's playing a level, you hear that level's theme. As soon as he gets to a boss, you abruptly hear the open door sound effect and then the boss battle theme. See what I mean? How ****ing cool is that?! I've been to every Athens, GA appearance and I'll be going to every future performance. They are that cool. I'm even getting the honor of having my cartoon themesong coverband play with them at their next show. It's gonna rock awesomely.
