Holy shit xbox 360 games cost $70??? Oh my bad holy shit xbox 360 games cost $60???? All of the cost that much when did that happen? Was i really not playing any attention at all to this XBOX 360 thing that was going on over christmas. Good thing ps2 games cost $20 brand new ones at $40. Jeez for $10 more I can get 4 greatest hits games. If all next gen games start at $60 I might just have to get a revolution after all.

Actually you can get the platinum hits for the xbox at the prices of the ps2 greatest hits if your in the market for those.

as far as the next gen titles go, they dont have to cost $60, thats just what developers are targeting. Actually, Microsoft's first party games are $49

For a game such as Oblivion sometimes cost does not even come into the equation.Even the format for me does not exist.I just want to sample this game no matter what it's on.I'm trying it on 360 at this time...

I think Bethesda have shown the right way to delay a game.
Rather than keeping gamers in the dark, they have been open and honest. I'm glad they only gave us a date once they knew they had gone gold.
Theres nothing worse than a stream of delays when the developers knew they would never hit their own targets. (Zelda anyone?)
Thanks Bethesda!

Who cares about how much the game costs?! I will gladly pay $60 (in this case $70 for the special edition) to play a game that provides more than 200 hours of playtime. Compare that to games that cost only $40 but would only give me 15 hours of enjoyment--there's no question to which one I'd buy.

All you cheapskates need to quit whining and get a job.

I've never tried an Elder Scrolls game before, so I'll hopefully be taking Oblivion for a spin. Wish me luck!

Everyone cease all anticipation for elder scrolls 4- the proverbial axe has fallen. Yes, that's right, you guessed it:

"STUFF" Magazine has given Oblivion a 3/5.

I'm sure that if any Next gen title appeared on the 360 it would be condemned by any anti-360 fan so all I can say is this. There is no such thing as a perfect game. What can not be denied is that the amount of work that has been put into this game is paramount. The design, technical development and vision of this series from Bethesda is expanding no matter what platform it's on.I congratulate them for pushing the boundries of story-telling into immersing us into video-game fantasy. All developers are trying to do this and make it fun.Bethesda are NextGen artists whose work can't be appreciated in a frame or song but in a whole event.I have to say I'm a big fan of their series and I hope they do well with what looks like a stunning piece of entertainment.

Penny-Arcade mentioned this one yesterday,
http://www.penny-arcade.com/2006/03/01

Here's a comment from a Press Preview:

"
When I got outside, things got hairy. I could see across to the other side of a lake, but it was completely undetailed. Just big, formless blobs of blues and greens. I turned around and looked at my more immediate surroundings and realized that the draw distance was awful. As you walk around, the ground teems with individually rendered blades of grass, bushes, mushrooms, all sorts of stuff. But only a small radius around your character is fully realized -- the rest of it is drawn in, quite visibly, as you move around.

...

Things get even worse when I jump on a horse. Now, I'm actually trotting at a steady clip, and Oblivion starts not just to have draw-in issues but framerate problems as well. It's chugging. It can't keep up with my speed, and quite frankly the horse isn't even going that fast. At some points, I keep seeing the "Loading Area..." message pop up every couple of seconds, which brings with it another framerate stutter. It's herky-jerky-all-over-the-place as I climb up the hill to the gate of Oblivion. My reation to the graphics has, over this sequence, gone from "unimpressed" to "nonplussed" to "annoyed."

I'm looking forward to trying it, but note that the developer has already said it only runs at 30fps max (yes, I can dig up the link, will take some time).

So I want to see it in action before I buy it. If it's as described in the preview (which Bethesda said was near-final), then that's not playable for me. That's just me though, some people don't care about frame rate.

"Oblivion." Such a fitting title. It's exactly where my GPA and social life will end up once this comes out.

Strange that the other news sites did not mention these problems. Its also strange that we do not see these problems in the many videos released of the gameplay. This guy's preview seemed slapped together if not outright fabricated. Whatever, I'll see for my self on the 20th.

I finally got around to watching the preview video footage on IGN. Forget Xbox 360 - does anyone else agree that this game would be AWESOME on a Revolution and actually being able to SWING your sword? The POV camera in the game seems way too stationary.

#26 Hell, lets forget the PC version aswell.Infact,I'd say forget any other format for games because the Revolution will own all with it's Revolutionary controller.Forget the POV,why didn't they make the main character you control be some fat, hairy lipped plumber finding the heir with nothing but a wrench, now that would be fun...NOT!
