Mountain news and splashes of Oscar celebrities is a simple report from Variety.com about Sony CEO Howard Stringer. It's
almost a human interest story about his efforts to turn the company around more than an actual report (hey, they call it
Variety for a reason). But in any case, it does mention a smidgeon of something about the PS3. Don't get your
hopes up though, it's nothing we haven't already heard."Sony's new PlayStation 3 was widely expected to be introduced this spring, but will be delayed as the company fine-tunes the chips that are crucial to the success of the console's Blu-ray function. ... Sony will roll out the PS3 by year end, in time for the holidays. If PS3 "delivers what everyone thinks it will, the game is up," Stringer boasts."
Okay, but why so vague? There are some ideas floating around for reasons as to why Sony just won't say anything. Could it be a move to stifle Xbox 360 sales if gamers are holding out for one or the other by year's end? Would it even matter?
