I am personally not interested in ANY new release by IW and Activsion until they address the ongoing dilema with the current version of COD2.....and apologize.

The sole intent has been to push the franchise toward the Xbox360 which has a customer base that is growing exponentially, and they get an extra $10 per game. We in the PC gaming community have been loyal from the beginning....before the makers of COD ever dreamed about the Xbox, and we know we're getting screwed. Our mappers' and modders' influence was what made United Offensive a hit success and we were expecting great things out of COD2.

Instead we got an incomplete game with MANY bugs and no SDK release. We are currently stuck with half-ass mods (that we had to create) and no flexibility without the SDK. We have already boycotted in protest and have been ensured by the game manufacturers that a patch was soon on the way. Only to find out recently that they are still "having problems" with it and it has been delayed once again. And now this noise about new releases?? What an insult!

Personally I advised each and every one of you to seriously re-consider your options before handing over another $50+ to these people. They will continue taking your money and produce a sub-par product as long as they know they can get away with it.

As for the WWII vs Modern debate....they've both been played out and you guys should leave the politics and soap box lectures out of this conversation. Hey, here's a concept for a new game....everyone in the world hates and wants to kill each other....sound familiar?

IW has gotten their last dollar from me. Their shoddy work and lack of updates for COD2 have led me to vote with my money. I vote NO to IW and the COD franchise. I'll find another game to play, from a dev house that supports their products.

W T F is wrong with all you ppl saying cod2 is dead on the pc and how much u hate infinity ward? jeez... wot a bunch of [flame]

COD2 is the finest shooter made thus far, the engine is beautifully smooth, animations are detailed and solid, there simply isn't another game that makes you feel as 'actually there' the way that cod2 does

Punkbuster support is a little annoying i guess, but frankly i haven't experienced any cheating that i knew for certain was cheating in online games, and if i have played in servers with ppl cheating, the cheaters really suck balls because i come top on a lot of servers

Plus they have announced that the patch for cod2 is on its way and they are going to integrate punkbuster in it soon too.

So stow the bitchin [flame]!

Modern Warfare will no doubt rock harder than [flame]

So there won't be any russian campaign?? Only Allied? this is NOT good, not good at all to say the least...

P.S.
Let me remind you about "Call of Duty 2".
Sovit soldiers NEVER used POTATOES instead of grenades in training. This is ridiculous.

For the development team I say: read historical documents IN Russia, NOT in any other country - or you'll be misInformed.

The true history of Russia and Soviet Union can only be found in Russian Federation...

honestly, why? why would this modern comabt game include grappling walls, silenced weapons, and tear gas? is this gonna be special forces or just regualr soldiers? ummmm regualr soldiers do not use weapons like that, i don't think the tear gas anyways.

Ummm...who said CoD was 100% accurate? It's kind of pointless to nitpick over something so minor.

i think Cod2 is a good game, but yet another WWII game is overdone. I am tired of constantly killing Germans as the "bad guys", they are our neighbours here in Europe (i live in Holland),the nazi time is done. The Germans feel bad about all this too.And a game about fighting terrorists is also not much fun. too heavy. My choice would be Cod Vietnam or maybe even Korea. the Korean War is politically risky, because the Korean War is officially still going on, its just a long cease fire. I would say Cod vietnam would be great, and then not rambo-like but authentic, and honest picture of that gruesome war. The men and boys who fought it were as much or as less heros as the ones who fought the nazi-regime.

I have to agree with SickNic. Talk of 2 new titles, while waiting on patches for the original does seem like a "take the money and run tactic". The only thing he said that I would like to correct is that PC gamers didnt wait, but are still waiting on a patch. There are problems such as wall hacks, aimbots, map exploits, and other small fixes that should be corrected long before a gaming company thinks that we would just run out and buy what ever they put on the shelf knowing that we would get no support after the purchase. The patch with PunkBuster has been in the making for sometime and the community has waited. I for one will not purchase another cod game of any kind until I see a little concern for the players of cod2 and the skill put into making the patch. I now own cod, coduo, and cod2. I dont understand why after the making of cod and uo, cod2 would even be considered to be made without PB, after they saw what happened without PB with cod

I like historical FPS and not future super soldiers or anti terrorist brigades. And, yes i have to agree totally with Jago, after all the Vietnam games like shellshock nam 67, Vietcong 1, and the ridiculous Vietcong 2,and others i conclude that there has NOT YET been made a decent, solid, impressive Vietnam FPS that would really set an example.

"...though Infinity Ward was explicitly fingered as the developer of Modern Warfare,"

is that some kind of joke??? They should finish what they started first and get the so long talked about COD2 patch out and fix that unfisnihsed piece of s... they call a game, i'm certainly not buying anymore of their lame products till the COD community gets some support from them, they should try running a server with their buggy COD2, half the mods the COD2 community developers have made cause the servers to crash cuz of the bugs the guys at IW left in the game, not to mention that COD2 is a cheaters paradise (waiting for the long talked about PB being added to the patch...) they've really spoilt a briiliant game COD * CODUO turning into this boring unplayable crap and now they are making another one... ha... no thanks.

Hey, donk. Hope I can answer these questions for ya:

"I have two questions: Is this for Xbox only, will contain MP?"

Re: platform(s) in question, you did read the second paragraph up there, didn't you? Search for "multiplayer" as well, and you'll get your answer for the WWII-based game. As nothing is mentioned to exclude MP from Modern Warfare, we can only assume that that CoD game will ship with more than a single-player campaign.

"And I would like to use this news on my wesite...
So.. can I? I wouldnt like to violate any rights...
I would also put link to your site above the article"

If that's what you'd like to do, simply link back here to show where you got your info. Also, please don't merely copy and paste the entire thing for your site. Rather, either selectively quote or summarize in your own words, as we'd prefer to keep the original over here if at all possible.

look guys its obvious that IW wants to get into something new...medal of honor had one time set and well it died out so a new twist will keep it going. the modern one will be what i think simular to CSS but probly not as glitchy and have better hit boxes =/. it stated that there will be not only middle east terrorism, but also terrorism from around the world, so all that stuff up there bout how this is about fighting muslim or middle east terrorism it is not concentrating on that. the problems with the games they have out now is the glitches and no hacker protection, they are soon to release punk buster for the PC area but im not sure about the xbox 360. my thoughts on all this new cod stuff if bring it on..it will be a change to see a familiar title with a new idea.

COD2 CONS:
I'm truly pissed at IW for putting out a reskinned/variable-tweaked COD1 as a new product and taking new game dollars from us for it. All the original glitches in COD1 are in COD2, plus, it’s not even modeled after the excellent COD1 expansion – United Offensive.

I can see suffering through the new game bug refinement (back in COD1) while the coding team gets their shit together on how to tweak a brand new game. I didn’t even mind paying for their potential realization in an expansion pack for it (BAS is the All Time greatest team oriented game type – Ever), but a sequel to a title should be at least as much better than the expansion as the expansion was to the original. I don’t like the idea of paying a premium price for a step backwards. We get enough of that from mother MicroSuck.

A "Game" that makes you “Run” on a tightrope to be in an online multiplayer session is not fun. This moves it out of the "Game" category into God knows what... Negative Psycho Therapy? Stress Inducer? Blood Pressure Enhancer? Whatever. Piece of Shit as a sequel to one of the best FPS’s to date.

The release of COD2 without Punkbuster embedded is an indication of the blatant lack of concern IW has for their using community. After an overlong wait for "The Patch" to be released, Punkbuster doesn't stop hacks that have been around since just after 2s release. The patch doesn’t let the game run on my 64bit platform where the original COD2 did.

I’ll not invest in another IW game.

COD2 PROS:
It's prettier than COD1. Whoot!

MHO on the religion thing. The first sign of wisdom in an individual is when they realize that the accumulated knowledge of man amounts to a steaming pile of shit. It took me 45 years to draft the following statement… “In each of our lives there are miniscule pieces of truth linked by volumes of rationalized delusions” (just goes to show you how stupid I am... it took me that long to realize it). Each of our physical being is unique on the order of large scale quadrillions to one. Our thoughts, at any particular moment in time, are the apex of billions of neural firings in a unique pattern that cannot and will never be explicitly repeated. Recognition is the personal experience of a small scale neural pattern that is only similar to one previously experienced. Each of our relationships with the universe is unique. The things we isolate from phenomena are not found there because they project the same images to every observer; instead, the universe is presented in a kaleidoscopic influx of impressions which have to be organized by our minds. Interpretation of our thoughts for expression to others is the foundation of language, and the organization of perceived phenomena is largely based on the language we use to convey our perceptions. This semi-vicious circle shows us that a very large part of our thoughts go uncategorized and isolated from the reasoning we use moment by moment. This does not mean the uncategorized phenomenon we experienced is invalid or that the truth present in any situation is not available for interpretation. It only means that we are not ready, at any time, to incorporate accurately a high percentage of incoming impressions and what we don’t interpret, we rationalize. This is why “In each of our lives, there are miniscule pieces of truth linked by volumes of rationalized delusions”. No individual human alive today has an idea of “The Whole Truth”. A simple conclusion from these “Pieces of Truth” is that there is nothing in this universe worth arguing about. The best we can hope for is to work at keeping an open mind and learn more by communication with each other. This is independent of any cultural boundaries, belief structures, “Known” realities, whatever.

I'm a girl. I'm a wife. I'm a mother. I'm 28 years old. I play video games. I dislike the COD versions on xbox and playstation as does my entire family, the gameplay is too hard and we prefer to play interactive multiplayer on PC. Yet it seems the PC is either going to be excluded or was overlooked. How come?

As far as all the flaming and political comments. I'm a conservative american patriot, and foremorst a christian. I think its very simple, In the end I answer to GOD, not you. And WAR is never a peaceful thing, yet it is often neccessary.

But this is a game and as such, political, religious, and patriotic debate should be held elsewhere.

I just don't understand it, currently the only game which has pushed the boundries of WW2 has been medal of honour. You saw service in the majority of countrys including in the pacific campaign.

How the hell come the guys at activision thought about instead of trying to bring the game to a time period which in some instances is boring, why dont they show us the pacific campaign or known to the Brits the forgotten war.

My grandfather fought in the forgotten war, in india, Africa and in the Burma, where i should point out there was no americans at all. How come a large part of WW2 has been just focused on the useless attempts of hitlar and his third reich.

Come on lets see, bushwackers, close fighting and above all the adrenaline of where the next bullet will come from, in the hidden depths of jungles, swamps and from little hidden japs from the top of coconut trees.

Wow so much hate... cant we all just get along? I like the idea of a COD from the perspective of the Nazis (not same thing as germans) or even the VC in Viet-nam who didnt want to be westernized. Hell maybe its just me but I think that instead of making games that idolize war, they should make games that show the actual brutality of it. Show the pyschological effect of it. Maybe a little character developement where the main character watches a close friend get his guts spilled out all over the ground. Maybe add some crying weeping and moaning. Now that would be a game. But too bad the game developers are capitalist in thinking.

Oh and by the way comparing Muslims to terrorists is like comparing White Americans to the KKK back in the day. Not all muslims are terrorists, and i doubt that most Muslims even support Terrorists.

What about a game thats set IF North Korea launched an attack on America and America goes in and thus begins the 2nd Korean War and u could play for either North Korea fighting for Communism or play as the Americans or South Koreans depending on which battle you fght in. The possibilities for countries that would come to each others aid r limitless...well almost :D

I mean seriously lets put all the 35 year old men that live in their moms basement in Iraq and see what happens. Hell, lets make an Iraqi jackass and desperate housewives there while were at it.
