This is easy.

HALO 3

And I would feel it was a bargain at $2500.

I can't say that I'd spend $2500 on any game, but I'd be enticed by Herzog Zwei 2 (or would that be Herzog Drei?).

I think this was about games that were scheduled but never released. Thus, Halo 3 is not in the running.

I'd like to see American localizations of Shining Force III episodes 2 and 3.

I have a hard time fathoming the pricing of the system these days so 2500 bucks for a game isn't going to happen...

...unless it were StarCraft 2.

Man, I wish that was a real game. (I think this thread has turned into a fantasy game thread.)

Surely you could just copy the game and make back your $2500 with a few sales. Theres always ways round a little copy protection.

$2500 is nothing to a lot of people. They blow that on a single hand of black jack in Vegas and dont even care.

I'm pretty sure gaming isn't just a poor people thing.

I'd definitely have to go with Twilight Princess. I'd not pay quite that much money, but somewhere in the order of $1000 would probably be in order.

And Halo 3?! Are you people smoking crack? What makes you think it's going to be any different from the first two?

The only legit answer I've seen is Filth's- Zelda III. I would have said the US version of Mother, but we've had the ROM of that for some time.

Anything that hasn't come out yet is a moot point, though an argument can be made for Mario 128. We know it exists somewhere at some level of completion... but will it be released for Revolution? Was the technology already utilized in some other game?

Regardless, $2,500 is too hefty a sum, something in the realm of $500-$1,000 is more applicable to test a gamer's wills for software. Clearly we know there is a hardware market in that price range judging by eBay in Nov/Dec 2005.

JodyAnthony: You are so freaking in luck, man.

First, I believe Suikoden 1 and 2 will be released to the PSP later. Anyway...

Illusion of Gaia is the second game in the Soul Blazer series. They're all different stories, but they deal with the same theme of world rebirth and legends and stuff. Anyway...

http://www.fantasyanime.com/legacy/terranigma.htm

Terranigma. The sequel to Illusion of Gaia. If Illusion of Gaia was Final Fantasy 4, Terranigma would be FF6 or Chrono Trigger. If Illusion of Gaia was Zelda 2, Terranigma would be Link to the past. This is one of the best games ever made for the SNES, and you owe it to yourself to find a copy and play it as soon as you can.

Erm...seriously people, they mean games that were meant to be released but were cancelled. Games that are CURRENTLY in production and have a FUTURE release date don't count.

Agreed with #21(Will). Terranigma is the greatest game that nobody ever played. I think the english port finally came out right before the Nintendo 64 was released. Everyone would be wise to get a copy of this game and play it. It was that good.

"Surely you could just copy the game and make back your $2500 with a few sales. Theres always ways round a little copy protection."

A few sales where? Ebay won't let you do it. Private buyers won't pay diddly for a copied game (just ask those who tried to sell Thrill Kill), whether it's technically "pirated" or not. The whole point of this price is that you have a one-of-a-kind item, and that's an actual, honest to goodness Sega-produced copy of this game. Nobody else will *ever* have that.

If I had $2500 to blow, I might buy something *like* this, but not this game itself. But I'd buy something like an unreleased Atari 2700 prototype for good money (there's more than one, but not many; I don't even know what they're worth, but it's a lot).

But let's face it, how long do you reckon it will be until there is a torrent of Sonic X-Treme ?

I think the article clearly means a cancelled unreleased game. So stop talking about Halo 3 and Twilight Princess cuz they will be out no matter what. As for me I'd pay some money (not 2500$ tho) for Banjo Threeie for GC. Banjo Kazooie series were great.

How about the unreleased version of Starfox 2 for the SNES that was 95% complete but then pulled. Maybe even the Conkers game that was shown for the N64 that was the "nice" version before Rare switched it up to be Bad Fur Day. And of course the SNES version of Kid Icarus that was canned early on in the SNES lifespan.

but yeah, i would pay about $100 for an english NTSC cart of Terranigma. Damn you brits getting the only english version!

Picking games that WILL be release seems a little uncreative. We already know Halo 3 is coming out eventually, so paying extra for that would be a waste.

Aliens vs Predator 3 on the other hand, is a much better choice. Why this hasn't been worked on is baffling; AVP2 had the Halo (for Xbox) popularity for the PC. I'm sure the sub par AVP movie didn't help.

AVP2 is still my all time favorite FPS, and dwarfs Halo in fun and playability in my opinion even though it is dated. All 3 (Alien, Predator, Marine) of its campaigns are way more intense and interesting. It's still a good game to pick up to this day.

why do people keep saying games that will come out or don't exist at all. given the context of this blog entry i'd think the question was meant for games in production that were canceled and will never come out. like the lucasarts sam and max game. i'd also like to play dinosaur planet for the n64 before it was transformed into starfox adventures. and fear effect:inferno for the ps2.
