Game Informer magazine has the scoop on God of War 2, according to scans of the magazine now percolating through the Interwebosphere. The only information divulged on the cover is that the game's headed for the Sony PlayStation 2. But inside, readers with a microscope might find a few more details:
It's nice to see that the PS2
is still getting plenty of love.

The first one was awesome...
hopefully it's got a good story.
I guess this means we are also getting GranTurismo4 online (assuming those rumors from a month or so back were true).

Anyway i cant wait for the next-gen consoles to be released. This gen has been great, it hit its top with the 360 and some good ps2 games. So we will see come e3 what good things next-gen will bring.

No...developers still support the previous generations systems until the next gen (i.e. PS3) have a higher install base. This has happened with every generation since basically every game console was made.
I swear...all you youngs guys who call yourself "gamers" are freakin' spoiled.

So, PS2 gets this game in '07, and then we might see God of War 3 on the PS3 in '08.
Conn, see the above. I don't think this would have any bearing on PS3--more like proof of PS2's staying power in the market. If PS3 was out NOW, you still wouldn't see a God of War game on the system until the developers could do it right. Sony invested a lot of time and money creating a new (and successful) action-adventure franchise here. Rushing out a half-baked effort on PS3 would only serve to sully that effort.
Besides, with backward compatibility, you'd be able to play this game on PS3 anyway. It's comforting to know that at least SOME companies can get this right.

Of course, if someone at GI were to play hardball, we'd be happy to comply according to the advice of our own legal counsel.
Not a big deal.

I guess since God of War II turned real, so will the rest of the Eurogamer-titles that Sony didn't want us to know about.

Of course it's in direct competition with PS2, what else is there for it to compete with. PS3 is not even out, so that nulifies that part of your comment to some degree. 360 sales are not as bad as rival console fangirls would like you to believe & they are also not as good as MS fangirls would have you believe. They are sailing along steadily in every country except japan (where they are considered to protect store shelves from harmful dust).. 360 is cruising at a steady pace for now. But the next gen, really hasn't started like people seem to think. Either nintendo or sony or both have to release before next gen really starts. As MS will just mainly get the hardcore crossover from xbox1 to 360, until competition arrives & makes all companies work harder to make top notch games to get new customers & the important, much needed mainstreamers onboard.
Back to topic, is it confirmed that the same team along with jaffe will be working in direct relation to the ps2 version of this. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a different team working on this sequel, while jaffe & the original team have started work on something on PS3. This is generally how developers work, when they have the lure of new power attracting them. Naughty dog selling crash license is one that springs immediately to mind. This is Especially true with 1st party developers as console manufacturers want to coax people over straightaway, & they know their main target at 1st will be hardcore gamers that know who, what & where developers are working on.
"Its more like the 360 is in competition with the gizmondo."
Comon man, I really enjoy sony hardware & games, but your just proving that a sony fangirl can talk as much bollocks as any nintendo or MS fangirl. Gizmondo was a hoax & scam from the get go. Do some reading. Ms are trying to get the upper hand in the console market & are losing money trying to do so. Gizmondo was a rip off to investors from the start, their was no intention to lose money to get a foot in the door, it was a scam to take money, then claim bankruptcy & rip off investors big time.
Simple fact is that sony can hang around a bit with PS2, like with PS2, dreamcast. Now I'm not saying 360 is headed down same road as dreamcast as already MS are actually marketing & creating interest & consumer awareness with their machine. The point being is that sony knows from past experiences that mass sales are not generated within the 1st few months of a consoles launch. Certain people only will buy the 360 at first, then it snowballs over the ensuing years with price droppages & more games.
PS3 could launch up to 18mths after 360 & still have good sales figures. This is proven with xbox 1 as an unproven company in the field managed to get over nintendo (the oldest & most recognised brand out of the lot) & sell a respectable ammount of consoles.
In my opinion it's only rational to think that sony doing the reverse with pS3 to 360 that xbox did with PS2-xbox1 with the 18mth gap & slight technical superiorority that sony will probably manage to do much better than xbox1 did, seing as sony is such an established consumer brand name now. This is even more believable given the fact that PS3 comes high def ready out of the box, supports a brand new mass storage media & should have slight technical edges over it's older rival.
I honestly think the 18mth gap is totally unbelievable & the PS3 will be here sooner than we think. We may find out on 15th march, with the playsation show in japan.
God of War is awesome & I can't wait to see it's sequel running on a pS3 or a new game by the minds behind Ico & Shadow.
