Chris Morris over at CNN
Money is suggesting that the delay of the PS3 could actually be a good thing. Don't string him up by his
toenails yet, he has a pretty good point. First of all, his commentary hammers home the notion which we've all had in
the back of our eager minds for a while now: Did you really expect it by late spring or early summer? As quiet as they
were when that little speculation hit the scene, it became pretty obvious we might not see it until much later in
2006.Another thought-provoking idea he suggests is rooted in the all-time classic justification for a delay: to polish up the games. Getting the goods out there prematurely will only hurt them. But what if they plan on using this time to buff up their launch library to dissuade gamers from the Xbox 360? With a simultaneous release, let's face it, shortages are going to happen. However, this holiday season is going to be when both Microsoft and Sony put it all on the table.
Since Microsoft will have almost a full year on them, it'll be important for Sony to have it together with a strong launch lineup. We all know a holiday shopping frenzy can make or break a system, so this "delay" could be just what Sony needs. One thing is for certain though: with all this time, they don't have an excuse not to have good games in November.
