Don't the 360 kiosks have a constantly running 360 inside of a small plastic bubble.

My 360 was locking up mostly due to heat issues. I sent it in for repair. If your system is locking up, it is probably a good idea for you to do the same.

How many people do you think will experience more lock ups once the summer months hit?

Are there any readers out there who live in a hot climate without an air conditioner and use their XBox 360s without fail?

I've really gotta question people that feel the need to put additional cooling on their 360. I've got my powerbrick jammed into my entertainment center sitting directly behing my 360... I have never had any overheating issues.

i didnt even think of the summer temps! yikes, im scared now.

Here is what i will do if i get introuble with my xbox heating up:

put a better 80mm fan on both sides of the 360 where there are the vents and aim the air pushing it into the xbox.
put an additional fan on the back pulling out. I cant see any reason it would over heat then.

..oh yeah, i forgot about the cinderblock sized powersupply that cooks my raman for me...ill put a box fan infront of that puppy.

There. Instant xbox 360 cooling solution for the summer months.

I killed two birds with one stone this winter: cooled off my 360 by turning off the heat in the apartment ( pretty chilly up here in MI), and saved on my heating bill by just letting the radiant heat from the 360 warm the apartment.

I actually had this set up already for about a month. My Xbox sits next to my Dell Moniter, which has (2) USB ports. I got the metallic silver Targus USB fan w/ light(much more quieter and cooler looking then the Kennigston FlyFan..and yes I did get both just to test it out) and hooked it to the USB on the moniter. I have the fan aimed from the front side of the 360 at the footprint. This is were the intake of the air comes from. I also elevated the vertical standing 360 about 1/4 to allow easier airflow.

The first 360 I got at launch was registering about 120 degrees (F) at the backend exahust. Unfortunatly, playing games at that temperature for three months finally had its toll, so I was forced to replace it. With the newest one, the temperature hovers at about 100 degrees (F) during intense gaming. With the fan, it gets it down to about 95 degrees.

Ok...yet I again someone needs to say it. A properly functioning 360 does not have problems overheating. You should not be a fool and purchase additional equipment.

This perpetuates the now defunct internet blog rumor that the 360 was overheating and scratching disk. There are a growing number of 360 users and no-one has continued to complain about these problems...just as in the beggining when these reports surfaced. This is communications 101...if the media reports something as true enough times...it then becomes so in the minds of the masses reguardless of the facts.

I was one of those people who suffered from overheating.
MS replaced the system (after 6 weeks and many phone calls), but I was still paranoid.

While it was away I picked up a USB chillmat (made for laptops) that has 2 fans. When I got mine back I just plugged it into the back and put the 360 on top.
The device was cheap and it hides nicely under the system.

Um, sorry to burst your bubble jon but 360s were overheating and scratching discs. I've seen scratched discs, and I've seen overheating 360s. Just believing something enough doesn't make it true.

Ive been going strong all day, and the only warm part on my 360 now is right where the hot air releases...you might not think its necessary, but it keeps the 360 cool. No harm can come of that.

Actually my replacement 360 doesn't need any extra external fans to keep it cool--seeing how much cooler it runs compared to the launch machines. The only reason for extra cooling was for piece of mind--I don't want my investment to crap out (again), especially after warranty. Having a small fan around isn't that shabby to have during summer either.

The 360 was only scratching discs if you were a retard and flipping the orientation of your XBox360 unit while it was on and had a disc inside the tray.

As for the overheating, it's a case of the smallest group of people making the loudest noise. The percentage of truly "overheated" units is tiny. Thank the media for jumping on a bandwagon and never taking back what they said..
