NES Zapper plus gyro mouse = Duck Hunt emulation heaven
Not content with his gyroscopic PowerGlove hack, leadingzero has decided to turn an NES Zapper into a gyration mouse for some authentic Duck Hunt emulation action. He writes, "I wired the [gyration] mouse to the NES Zapper, allowing for both free range motion sensing and trigger happy left-click action. This is a very easy hack, as long as you are comfortable soldering on a $30 gyration mouse, and will give you a fully functional (yet ugly) motion sensing mouse gun fashioned out of the old-school NES Zapper..."
Of course, he's posted pictures of the entire process so, if you're feeling adventurous, or just have a burning desire to put a dusty old Zapper to good use, you can hack-by-numbers.

not bad, but you'll have a mouse cursor to help you out!

I presume that this can be done with any lightgun / gyro mouse combo... But can someone confirm this?
Because I want to play FPS like that :)

I swear that's the Nintendo touch hand in the background. Neat.

Actually, Maurik, if I understand it correctly--you don't need a light gun. He just used the zapper for a more familiar feel/nastalgia relative to the game. The only part of the gun actually used is the trigger. Other than that, it's all on the mouse.
While novel, I'm not sure how effective it would be in a fast paced FPS -- between switching weapons and the trigger cramping up your hand, you'd probably go back to your old input devices pretty quick :)

Allen, thanks for the input, you're probably right; 'WASD' is my prefered method...
Shame that there aren't really any time crisis / virtua cop games for the PC on the market though - they remain very focused on the console and arcade games.
