I can't believe this. I seriously loathe EA, it is the bane of my existence. They can't make a decent game with a limited supply of money. All they do is update the same game over and over by added a tiny bit of better graphics and updated play rosters, cars, etc. EA is why Nintendo exists, they do not innovate and keep churnning out utter crap. I really hope the company crashes. Period.

That's Right Keep Eating You LITTLE PIGGY! You digusting hog, just keep gobbling everything in your little sauge fingered path. Gouge yourself on company after company license after license till your fat little piggyly wiggly arms can't reach your face.

EA figures if it owns every company and every license they can churn out what they like and we have to take it. And when they shovel out the pixelated fertilizer and nobody buys it they can just plain blame Xbox 360 or PS3 and all's well that ends well. But their finacial losses should tell them something. Gamers aren't obliged to buy their crap even if you swallow their favorite game company whole like a rabbid steroids freak eatting rotten eggs on "Fear Factor". So all EA is doing is hastening their demise, you can't keep taking over company after company with out turning a profit. And sooner our later even the casualist of gamers will ignore your stale rehashed clone titles. Right now EA is doing their best Hookers at the point impression and swallowing anything they think will bring them revenue, this plan will backfire.

AWESOME! i don't care who is the biggest 3rd party as long as it's not Sega.

sega has some of the greatest franchises out there, and they deserve everything they get for mishandling the company for so long. i remember when dreamcast died, they proclaimed that they would be the biggest third party publisher / developer in the industry (does anyone even remember?). they absolutely, positively didn't deserve it, and i'm happy to see it's becoming even more and more impossible for them to achieve this. morons.

GO EA GO.

NOOO!

Now it's definetly certain, this BF2 game and all upcoming BF2 games will SUCK. EA constantly ruins everything new.

I wish Valve had released Battlefield2, we could at least have a community...

WTF is wrong with you, kinglouse? Why the hell do you think Sega doesn't "deserve" to be the "biggest"? You know, you probably work for EA, and you're just trying to show support for them in a place where there is no mercy for such a repugnant company.

Wonderful, now I know for a fact that all future BF games will have shitty mini-expansions. Oh joy.

EA and the gaming industry itself is pretty much what the movie industry used to be. Buy up all the little movie companies and put them under there own and then went belly up because they had too many branches to support.

The problem with EA isn't that they buy up companies, it's that they buy up one hit wonders and then expect them to continue with that hit and make spin offs of it(See the Sims) and anything else is backburner ideas.

One day it will be different where these small gaming companies can shop there ideas around to any of the Bigger Third Parities(EA, Sega, Capcom) and Nintendo and then have them support them with money to make the games for X system(s).

But right now, it's not that way, because the Big Third Parties still see themselves as game makers instead of game distributers like the Movies companies are, and want to control all the parts of the process(Game ideal>game pitch>game funding>game development>game advertisement>game distribution) and this is why we get games like the Urbz.

If the Big 3 Parties just focus on the these parts: Funding, Advertisement and Distribution, this would cut the crap down a bit.

Because, just like in Hollywood, when the suits make the ideas and pitches, most of the time you get shit.

Can someone please tell me has this ever turned out well?

Big game publisher buys out successful little game developer. 5 years later little game company and it's franchises are either gone or driven into the ground with bad sequels.

Ussually when this happens the major talent at the studio ussually leaves shortly there after to start up a new company that will itself be bought out in a few years.

Best example Microprose gets bought out, Sid Mier heads out the door. has huge success at firaxis. which has just been bought out by Take 2. Mark my words Sid will leave within a year to start another company.

This silly game of musical developers helps nothing and provides nothing other than jobs for accountants and lawyers. None of the games end up better and many great franchises get thrown away in the process.

I already HATE EA because they did exactly this with Origin and I will never forgive those scumbags for that.

it's not that i hate sega - i love them. and on the same token - i hate EA as much as the next guy.

my point is simply that sega doesn't deserve #1. why did EA become #1? because they were smart. simple as that.

sega had every opportunity to take the top spot. after dreamcast they were able to refocus all their resources into achieving this goal. they had the IP. the momentum. the support. they had everything. and time after time after time, stemming back the last 15 years, they've managed to screw up like you wouldn't believe. 50% of their top franchises are in disarray. they can't even handle their top IP's, let alone the company!

I hate EA for what it is, but there's a part of me that respects their business practices. they are a textbook example of how to grow a business, sustain it, and make a hell of a lot of money in the process. is this the only way of doing things? no. look at nintendo for example - they shine because of QUALITY. there are many ways to achieve success but sega definately hasn't found one.

This is great news! Now the morons at EA can't blame DICE for not implimenting widescreen support anymore! In order to get widescreen resolutions to work on BF2 you have to modify the command line in the shortcut with the desired resolution. This works great unless you want to run BF2:Special Forces, which is completely incompatible with 16:9 monitors.

No more EA products for me until they fix it.
