I played DDO for about two days during closed beta before deleting it from my hard drive.
1) With games like Oblivion coming out, I expected the graphics in DDO to be a lot less drab then they were. I know Oblivion sets an unfair bar, especially since DDO is an MMO, but the bar has been set.
2) The appeal of D&D is not simply the hit points and the magic missiles in of themselves, it's the chance to immerse yourself in a rich, interactive story (which can be done with a GM IRL)

When playing the game, I felt that I've played this game somewhere before. Many times.

The MMO market has become rather stagnant and streamlined, and DDO is no exception. NWN actually implemented a GM tool that, though far from perfect, at least transferred some of the P&P experience to the online world. Unless somehow Turbine decides to host daily GM run events in the world of DDO, I don't see any appeal in playing the game over, say, WoW, which is a more vibrant and active world. And even then, I got bored of WoW, too.

yeah i agree with some points but i still have not got bored of wow but i have never got hooked on it either. MMOs are good just sucks they take soo much time and effort to put in. I think it would be funny to see a MMO of pokemon. Im sure soo many kids would die from it.

The should allow people to sign up to GM. It would definitely make things more diverse. Not like I've played it yet.
I'd like to see something like this on the DS.

a mmorpg on ds? thats kinda hard i think.

it's a shame their solo play is so limited, but then dungeons and dragons is of course usually not a solo game.

I think the reviewers are missing the point of D&D. It's not about taking on the world by yourself. It's not about challenging other players to combat. It's about getting together with a handful of friends and going on an adventure. And DDO excels at this.

I've been playing D&D since highschool. And now that my group of friends I got together are all moving away and working the 9-5 this game was a god send. We can all easily keep in touch and still have our weekly night of D&D.

We really don't care about the MMO aspect. I say F the random stranger most of the time. They're usually ass-clowns anyway. Also, I'm an MMO "veteran" I've played almost everything since Ultima Online 8 years ago. And frankly, I'm sick of MMO's like WoW or FFXI. DDO is a breath of fresh air.

7-day trial of DDO?
Id rather have a 14 day trial of EVE Online.
I got bored of WoW aswell, but CCP has me hooked on EVE.

Id rather stick to pencil and paper when it comes to D&D.
(That, or OpenRPG.)
