The XNA framework has been unveiled as a move by Microsoft to aid in the development of Xbox 360 games. Basically this is going to make things a little bit easier for game makers. But one of the other big announcements coming out of the GDC today was that Microsoft has decided to open up the Xbox Live service for developers to have a field day on.
With this package, developers will be able to extend the playability of Xbox Live by way of their own back-end servers. This means we could very well see MMO's in the future. One of our dear readers sent in some speculation about the chance of seeing an announcement at E3 this May. Given the proximity of this report, it may be too soon to expect a major MMO revelation in the next couple months, however we won't know until we get there!
Our own Chris is blogging the GDC and will be rubbing elbows with some pretty classy folks (like Peter Moore and Chris Satchell) over eggs and bacon Wednesday. Keep it tuned here for more information on how things pan out in San Jose.
