In a very informative video
interview with Kikizo, the Director of Microsoft's Game Technology Group got the chance to spill his thoughts on some
really good topics. Scott Henson has over a decade of experience under his belt, so all of his comments are pretty
reliable. One of the most notable quotes from the interview has to do with the leap in high-definition. Mr. Henson says that "1080p will be basically impossible" and to expect 720p and 1080i as the "sweet spot" over the next ten years. This may raise some eyebrows for Sony fans. He specifically says that most developers would probably tell you they won't be supporting that high of a quality.
While there is a ton of information, some statistics he mentions that stand out have to do with Xbox Live. There have been over 9 million downloads to date, 3 million of which have been on Xbox Live Arcade. And 85% of all the connected consoles have made a download of some sort. He's even got numbers for the amount of text messages sent and times a Gamercard has been viewed (over a million times a day, off of Xbox Live).
There are a bunch of other topics they tackle like the HD-DVD add-on (and lack of interest), the upgradable nature of the 360 architecture, XNA and more. The video clocks in at over 20 minutes, so this is definitely recommended (low version is only 36MB).
