Battlefield 2142 officially confirmed

Impressions:

- The video looks pretty cool. BF2, despite a lot of the hate it gets, is still a very fun game - combine that with mechs, fancy tech, etc and what more could you want?
- Why so soon? BF2 is still a very widely played game. I'm afraid they are using the BF2 engine and wanted to pump this out as quickly as possible so it didn't look dated. Somehow it reeks of EA...
- It'll be tough to go up against Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. From judging the media released so far (yeah yeah, a bad idea, I know) I'll be going for ET:QW.
- Somehow this seems like a profesionally done mod for BF2. So far I havn't really seen anything that a dedicated team of modders wouldn't be able to do (except maybe invisibility).

So, I guess the thing to do now is sit and wait. I predict a million "omgwtf fix bf2 first" posts in this thread...

Man, couldn't EA make a their Battlefield 2 game stable first, before dishing out another one. Didn't BF2 came out last year and before its one year aniversary its has another game to take its place. The game looks good and all, but how about another year or two!?! It looks like BF series are going to turn into a "Madden" series...

Well if this supports ranks like bf2 i'll buy it. But why release a sequel so soon, yeah BF2 is still played by thousand of players around the world... they should wait longer to release this...

I just wish BF2 would be fixed first.

Totally agreed.

I personally still play BF 1942 (the mods, like Forgotten Hope, and Desert Combat). I have BF2, but I've only played it 3 times before bordom struck. It was a beautiful game, extremely realistic. Almost too realistic... Games should be realistic, but shouldn't be so realistic that it's no longer fun (BF2 wasn't no longer fun, it was just, "ok" to me).

this is one tight fps ,1000 times better than halo 2, and this is going to be avialable for ps3 ,just another reason to pop that badboy.

it's not very informative though... the PC Gamer Scans were much more informative... but, to be fair, aside from subscribers, most people aren't even supposed to see that issue of PC Gamer for at least a few more days (if not weeks).

to some respect, it does remind me of "Madden"... but i was never into Madden. at least i like BF2, and hopefully soon BF2142. heck, Unreal Tournament seems even MORE like "Madden"... but i'm still planning on buying UT2007.
