Saw this a while ago, and not it wasn't as amusing as I expected, it was very well made and nice selection of Uematsu/Mitsuda music. :)

Have to say this is a pretty well-made video, nice aftereffects on it... and hey the girl isn't too bad looking either. Can't believe they got her to agree to doing this :P

I like how the guy with the gun is completely worthless and misses every time. So true. I don't think they intended it, but this video kind of showcases exactly why a lot of gamers(including myself) think the Final Fantasy series(and similar Japanese RPGs) sucks.

I must say... this is probably one of the best parodies of FF I have ever seen. Its great, it brings back so many memmories. That pretty much brought a tear to my eye and made the hair on the back of my neck stand up from hearing all those old songs. Wow, that was just great. I reminded me of why I love Final Fantasy.

FFVI(III) FFVIII FFIIX FFIX all great games :)

Thanks Joystiq.

The start was funny, but that battle dragged on waaay too much.

Echo the comments that this reminds the world of how bad FF actually is. I like it myself, but I can see how bad it is as the same time. Especially all FF games after 7

Actually, FF8 and FF9 were better than FF7, at least gameplaywise (the ones that don't like FF8 just don't understand the junction system). The soundtrack for FF8 was outstanding; I think it's the best of Nobuo Uematsu. In fact, I prefer almost every FF game before FF7 (except FFX-2 and FFX).

Other than that, I haven't played FFXI because my computer doesn't support it and I don't intend to buy a freaking hard drive just for FFXI on PS2.

Oh, and if you want to play good RPGs other than FF, play Dragon's Quest, Chrono Trigger, almost any of the Tales series from Namco, and the Mario RPGs.

On the video, it was hilarious how the gun guy always failed like in the game, how there is a useless girl that always get confused, and Ironically, everyone dies except her to finish the guy with the smallest blow ever... lol

This video was long, but not as long as some of the battles I remember playing in FF7 or FFX (I skipped the ones in between b/c once you've played one, you're good for at least 3 or 4 years).

I don't think you could say FF as a series is great. I mean, c'mon, it's the same crap rehashed every year or two (similar to Madden). And I'll be damned if I can finish those games (I never really finished 7 or 10 because my characters never leveled up properly and damn if I'm wasting ten more hours trying to do that).

And the stories...talk about vague dialogue and 8th grade love triangles. Uggh.

Screw Cloud and Tidus for taking 60+ hours of my life away in high school. I could've at least gotten laid. Or dreamed about it anyway...

even though they got "confusion" totally wrong. she should have been cured on revive, plus you can't control while confused.

good job. that video REALLY takes me back.. and for me it was a look at exactly how bizarre the Final Fantasy series would be if it took place in the real world.

i played the demo of FFXII. wasn't impressed at all. it was awful. i'm pretty dissapointed. i guess i'll jsut have to stick with FFVII and FFIII for my final fantasy fixes.

it's just wrong to take away the traditional turn based combat.. not to mention the in-game graphics for XII SUCK.

oh well :(.

This video reminds me why I hate turn-based games. Because the game model was obsolete after Super NES.

perfect. simply perfect! found undergarments was a stroke of genius. running into the wall was cool. just all of the little attention to details were great. if you all make a sequel, and you should, i would love to help out!

I thought it was funny. It dragged on just like most FF games usually do when you get near the end. The only thing I didn't like is how they used the way you walk around in Chrono Cross, and also the music from CC, but the fight scene was FF.

No problem, Babu. =) Say, which FF were you referring to when you wrote "FFIIX"? FFVII, perhaps? At any rate, I have less patience to play through RPGs as thoroughly as I have in the past these days, but turn-based strategy RPGs help keep me in the loop these days (in a manner of speaking).

WOW! Was this rendered on the PS3?! It's so real!

More to the point, this video (and the subsequent commentary) expposes one of the primary flaws of game design nowadays, namely, that it all has to "make sense." Of course the above situation would look ridiculous in real life, that's what the video is parodying in the first place. But frankly, I don't give a quarter of a damn if the game makes any sense at all, as long as I have a blast playing it. Take any absurd premise, such as, say, a squat Italian landlord running and jumping his way through a world of mushrooms and turtles to rescue a princess from a fire-breathing dinosaur, make it fun, and I'll still hand over my money with a smile on my face.

Unfortunately, as hardware improves, those who make the games feel obligated to tailor both the graphics and the gameplay to what we are familiar with here in the real world. Innovation through imitation, essentially. This isn't a problem when this serves to more fully immerse us in the experience, but when you're forced to sacrifice fun for the sake of making the game "more life real life," that's something I object to. When I'm playing Tetris, I don't pretend that I'm a crane operator dropping irregular hunks of steel into an incinerator.

I don't inisist that a game have a good story, nor do I insist that it have cutting-edge graphics (or even any graphics at all). All that I ask is that developers stow the bullshit and entertain me to the best of their ability, whether that entails making the game more real or less. If I want a great story I'll read a book, likewise the graphics on my television can never equal the vivid imagery of my imagination. My games should let me experience things that I couldn't imagine otherwise, and let me do things that can't be written down onto paper and distributed in book form for a tenth of the price.
