GDC: The "Iwata, drop the bomb" (-omb) guy

I saw this guy hanging outside the line for Satoru Iwata's keynote this afternoon and I'm just guessing that The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Sega Genesis and Turbo-Grafx 16 games weren't the bombs this Nintendo University alum was thinking about. He was probably waiting for something of the Nintendo GO or, better yet, the Nintendo ON variety.

OSHI-
This man posted about himself on 4chan a few hours ago.
Draco @ Mar 23rd 2006 11:02PM
I think he wants Satoru Iwata's to disclose some info about 3d glasses (like at IMAX) to be used on select Revo games.
thats why the bomb has the blue and red glasses ;) (although the new 3d is grey glasses but this is easier to show)

Oh good God...how long before the photoshoppers have a field day with this? :-p hehe

"Oh good God...how long before the photoshoppers have a field day with this?"
Wouldn't surprise me if Fark.com does some kind of Photoshop assignment with this guy.

...you spelled "layed" wrong. It's "laid".
Keep it, adds to the pic. Wouldn't expect a guy like that to know spelling anyways.
epobirs @ Mar 24th 2006 1:11AM
If this guy wasn't hired by Nintendo he should be placed under police surveillance.
Tick, tick, tick...
fakiu @ Mar 24th 2006 1:25AM
do u think nintendo will announce a virtual console for the DS, ummmm like downloadable versions of gameboy and gameboy color games????????????????
Patrick @ Mar 24th 2006 5:34AM
I think he did this because he knew some gaming website would post a pic of him and he would get his 15 mins of fame. If not and he is serious about this then he is a sad sad lonely little man that probally still lives in his parents basement and argues that the original Star Wars movies "are so much better than the new ones".
Deku-Nutz @ Mar 24th 2006 5:44AM
my god give the guy a break!
it's no different from rabid fans queing outside shops a night before some new console is released.
and WHAT has this got to do with him getting laid?
oH right because he is wearing a Nintendo t-shrit and he has a sign... retards! the lot of you.
Pikachelsea @ Mar 24th 2006 5:48AM
Well, I was hoping for the MEGATON info from Iwata too, but I'm not gonna spend 10 hours on a sign and march around with it :
Patrick @ Mar 24th 2006 5:53AM
I think the comment about him not getting laid is because most people that are this obsessed about video games, not just Nintendo have issues. They don't have to much extra time for those of the opposite sex except for the software generated ones. Also the ladies look at them kinda funny, as well they should since the may end up tied up in the attic dressed like Lara Croft.
Deku-Nutz @ Mar 24th 2006 6:47AM
sweeping generalisation there Patrick but I suppose I appreciate your opinion.
Then again just cause this guy was there, has an obvious passion (obsession) with Nintendo doesn't map out any other facts to his life... for instance his sexual habits, how much of a life he has outside of videogames...
Just because he has the balls to have a little fun at his own expense and none of you could. I think its more sad sitting at a screen and judging those in the world living their own lives.
Manda @ Mar 24th 2006 7:57AM
Indeed, I agree with post 16.
I think his sign is pretty cool and I'm surprised that there weren't more hardcore gamers milling around outside the building. Think about how many people do that for MTV events. Not that the MTV event people are worth much of anything, but this guy wasn't looking for fame. He was having fun, and hoping he could get and up-close view of the keynote hooplah.
Moogle @ Mar 24th 2006 9:00AM
What gets me is I think Draco's on the right track here, and if THAT's why he paraded around with a sign for hours it's blatant insanity. All the 'evidence' for the 3d glasses was ridiculous hearsay.
Well, aside from the extraordinary impracticality, I guess Nintendo has been claiming that the biggest new thing hasn't been announced. Depth perception would go pretty well with a full 3d controller. But... No, it just doesn't make sense. 3d is so meagerly advantageous over normal screens that it can't add much to games, and it'd defeat the purpose of not scaring off non-hardcore gamers. It couldn't be more important than the controller. Also sucks for audiences, which is part of the fun.
I guess I can see why people would believe it, but I'm pretty sure the hidden thing isn't going to be a 3d display.

it's a very good read and highly worth it.
However, I still do not believe that VR will be a reality for the Rev, maybe the console after it, but not the Rev.
With all that said, I kinda' haveto wonder who this guy thinks he is, SeriousGamer007?
DCSimian @ Mar 24th 2006 10:19AM
#12 But...they are better than the new ones...
Empire Strikes Back trumps all. "It is useless to resist..."
Anyway, the guy's just having some fun. He certainly got noticed, so, in effect...he succeeded. *props
jV @ Mar 24th 2006 10:33AM
Re: Those of you making fun of him.
Apperance-wise, he actually looks more "normal" than the typical gamer, i.e. you guys.
DCSimian @ Mar 24th 2006 11:21AM
Point of curiousity...how do you know what any of us actually look like?
Some generalizations just don't work...
Anticrawl @ Mar 24th 2006 1:48PM
Haha they say men. The buggar did it. Way to go dude. I told you some journalist would write an article about you and post a pic. Nice sign dude. In case ya'll didn't know this guy posts regularly around her under the name of tactics. Pretty cool average guy. He's been out there like every day from open to close of GDC. And in case you're wondering, he doesn't support the idea that the Rev will use stereoscopic glasses to see the game in 3D, it was just an easy way to make the sign look cooler.

1, 3, 13, 16, 17, 21, and Anticrawl: thanks.
i had a blast.
and for those wondering, i just wanted iwata, miyamoto, or reggie to notice me and see my sign. know about my passion for nintendo. i dont think they saw, though, so if that means they have to see me on a website, great.
i actually didnt get ridiculed as much as i thought i would, out there, but you sure can tell the sony/ms fanboys when you see them. they were the ones telling me "thats dumb" "whatever" or just glaring at me. it was pretty hilarious.
Spoon @ Mar 24th 2006 4:06PM
I always think it's Carlos Mencia everytime I see this pic.
tactics @ Mar 24th 2006 7:31PM
carlos mencia? hahahah... sigh.
he's pretty funny though.
Julie Putnam @ Mar 24th 2006 8:59PM

You gotta give the guy credit, that sign is pretty sweet.
