it's also about twice as large as that mouse sitting next to it, so unless you have some wacked out retard pockets, I doubt it's fitting there.

Still looks nice.

Off topic:

I think the secret slot on the front is in fact a universal cartridge slot that'll fit N64, NES and SNES cartridges. Or it makes toast. It's a win win situation.

It's still gonna be micro-sized compared to its competition.

Also, some have speculated that the port that is missing is gone because they made the sensor bar you put near your TV wireless. Also, I've seen in other pics that the controller has changed ever so slightly. The bottom buttons, marked X and Y on the buttons, have a sideways "b" and "a" next to them. I would assume that is so when you turn the controller sideways, you have an "a" and "b" button for oldschool games.

If it is that small, mean it won't be very powerful system.

@doug: That's not a mouse, it's the "nunchuck" controller attachment.

I had no idea how small the Rev/GO is until I saw that pic, nice work!

doug, I don't think that is a mouse next to the system... but the analogue controller that plugs into the revmote.

Man, that's amazing. I really can't wait. I wonder what's on the inside if its that small. I would also think Nintendo would have less of a supply problem with such a small unit (less parts=less things that can be delayed)

Anyone else notice the AV output looks a lot like the "progressive" AV output on the GameCube, might mean they did decide to go High Def with this bad boy...

I think its a bit of a case of foreshortening. It's probably about 1.5 DVD in length, the same as 1 case in height and 3 cases worth of width. Still, its easily the smallest of the next generation consoles available.

Pics from another angle interestingly reveal that the console does not have 'Revolution' written on its front. Just the Nintendo logo.

@ Momus. no digital video isnt out, its standerd. look at the port, its not the shape of the av out that nintendo has been useing for years. its actually the same shape as the cubes digital video out.

@ICeatcs. Speak English do you? small brain you have, smart you are not.

I think it's important to point out that the Gamecube is small as well but packs a pretty decent punch in terms of current-gen horsepower and performance. Let's not underestimate how powerful this little gem is going to be. I bet we'll all be pleasantly surprised.

It is the same digital output from the GC. It will support progressive scan (480p), not true High Definition.

And if that 'Go' thing is real, we can assume it will be called the Nintendo V or 5 in the rest of the world. (Go = 5 in kanji.)

What size pockets do you have? It's much bigger than the controller, which I don't know about you, but I'm not putting a controller in my pocket.

Pretty much the worst picture ever. how can you compare the size of something in the background with something that is being held in front of the cameras lens?

depth of feild....

I mean really.

Are you guys forgetting that this is the same display model that was at E3. The European patent sketches would be considered "newer". Hence digital audio is not out. Also, the GC's dv cable does not support audio.

well obviously teh rev output would be a new one, it isnt that hard to add audio outs to the digital video out cables.

and I very much doubt digital audio will be in there. I think nitnendo has already stated they are useing the same dolby stereo for rev as they did cube

Great. We have turned the Revolution into a "big foot." Is it real? Is it fake? Does it leave man-sized foot prints in the wilds of Idaho??? Anyway, the conference supposedly begins at 1:30 p.m. EST.

Didn't Nintendo say at E3 that the production unit would be even smaller than the one they showed? Why has it gotten bigger?

Someone needs a Father Ted lesson in physics.

Perspective's off.

the a and b buttons sitting in snes old school manner is pretty nifty but won't the onn off button for the sonsole be directly beside the bottom left of the d-pad? thats a little silly. esp since people complained about the position of the fat ds' power button (something i had no problem with).

NOTE:

According to Matt Casamassina (IGN Revolution), Nintendo reps have said the prototype shown at GDC is the same as the one at TGS. So, no, it IS NOT any thicker than before.

As a semi-pro photographer I can say that yes this is a perspective trick. It isn't a major trick though. I think the Rev is actually about as long as 1 and 1/4th to 1 and 1/3rd of the DS.

With the help of perspective and photoshop, I was able to "move" the DS closer to the Revolution/GO mockup to give a better perspective of its size. I'm assuming that the DS in the original photo was placed at the edge of the display top.

The picture is misleading. The rev is small, but not as small as that picture makes it seem. It's SO cool looking up close.
