PSP keyboard and cellphone patents surface
A pair of PSP patents recently went public via the United States Patent and Trademark
Office. We've heard rumor of keyboard and cellphone USB attachments for the PSP before, so it comes as no surprise that
these patents were officially filed back in November 2004. While the keyboard is still a possibility, given that an
email function is on the way, the chances of a phone extension hitting retail are slim.

That keyboard would make a really ackward typing position, with the screen being under the keys. Unless of course, you held the PSP upside down...

upon further research, these filings were made specifically to protect the nonworking conceptual designs that were displayed at shows like E3. so sony could sue/make money if anyone went forward with thier idea. there are no plans to manufacture these devices in this form.
i know when i saw them the first words uttered were "...impossible..." but they do /look/ neat...
but they are laughable at this point, and ass backwards from a working design perspective.

Does that mean I can use my PSP as an N-Gage now?

congratulations sony, you're almost complete in removing all references to the psp being a game machine.

Sony spends a lot of time, money and effort trying to make the PSP into every device in the world, other than a kick-ass game machine.
Please, please please Sony. Give me a reason to fish my PSP out of the closet. A janky keyboard and cell phone aren't going to do it. I already have a Treo, a device with a kick-ass keyboard, cell phone, web browser, email client, movie player, RSS news reader and more. What I wanted when I got the PSP was a GAME system, something you are determined not to give me. Spend your time courting developers to build compelling new games for the PSP.

Sony must not understand that gamers want GAMES!!!!
What does it take to get Sony to realize this?

Syphon Filter 90.9%
Daxter 89.9%
Mega Man Powered Up 86.8%
All great games, all came out the sameday, but i guess most of u would need a psp to play them.

I agree with #7. There are now reasons to go buy a psp. We have our games now...so stop bitching.

Actually there are quite a few good games to buy the psp for, GTA:Liberty City Stories, Virtua Tennis, Lumines, Daxter, Megaman: Powered Up, Mercury, Wipeout Pure, Me and My Katamari, and quite a few more. So enough with the "The PSP has no good games" crap, because its simply not true. Killzone, Tekken: Dark Ressurection, Loco Roco, and Gran Turismo 4 Mobile all on the horizon, its hard to prove that there isn't any thing good coming either.
The phone will probably not be made into reality, but the keyboard would be an excellent addition, since the psp has a webbrowser.

i have a PSP and at first i fighured cool maybe the phone pad is for VoIp or whatever then i thought hmm what in the hell would you possibly talk to, on a side-note Daxter looks good i gotta pick that up
Jago @ Mar 25th 2006 5:58AM
Ok then...well how about "The PSP has NO good online games." NONE of the online PSP games can even match MKDS, Animal Crossing, Tetris DS, Metroid, etc.
Oh yea..Mercury isn't THAT great...it's more of a mediocre puzzle game. Plus judging by people comments and reviews, "Me and my Katamari" isn't quite as good as the console versions.
I own a PSP btw and the only REAL game that has come out making the PSP worthy is "Daxter" and it has been close to a YEAR since the system launched.

I got rid of my PSP this week. I've had the same games since launch and it's just a frustrating reminder that as awesome as it could be, they just aren't making that many PORTABLE games I am interested in. Even the games I had, Wipeout, Lumines, and Mercury (which was incredibly awesome by the way) I have had since nearly the launch date of the system. Don't mind re-purchasing it down the road if that changes, but for now, I'm happier with that other portable system.

why do people buy a psp and then sell it for a much cheaper price?
i would never sell it at a loss becouse i bougt it.
at least let it wait a bit for games to be released.
you will regret it i guarantee.
if you look at the ps2 in its first year it had much less games on it than the psp!!!
and look how big the ps2 is now!!!
every bloody house has it so far(except a few countries in africa-too poor)
the psp is a thing of the future but you have to wait to see the full experience!
and about the mobile phone and typewriter-no idea.
