Proof that Nintendo GO is a no-go?

We'd love to say that this totally disproves the rumor's legitimacy but considering the D-pad design's obvious connection to Nintendo, it's equally possible that Nintendo (if GO is real) or the hoaxer (if GO is fake) could have been completely unaware of the design's likeness to Webeditor 5's logo. The mystery continues...

fake definately, and that looks like the gamecube symbol...i dont think they will call it revolution but GO, no nintendo will give it a good name
gizmondo_hater @ Mar 25th 2006 3:23PM
not surprised really, has to be fake. Hahahahahahahaha
Dorkus Malorkus @ Mar 25th 2006 3:31PM
I wouldn't be surprised if it was unintentional, but that they stay with it anyway. Nintendo fashioned the Nintendo 64 "N" logo in the exact style of Micromat's "M" logo, which predated it by several years:

It could still be real and just a coincidence, but I really don't like the name GO...

Nintendo themselves said it was fake.
IGN: Have you seen these Nintendo Go photographs floating around the Internet?
Beth: You're about the fourth person who has asked me that. I have no idea what that is. I haven't been on the Internet yet today, but I have no idea what that is.

that symbol does have resemblence to the gamecube one, but maybe, if true, it could be nintendo wants it like that, because if u look at where a cube could fit in the corners of the d-pad symbol it could have a meaning of symbolic value that gamecube games are also playable, for instance in an ad, nintendo starts out with the gamecube symbol but it fits into that d-pad type symbol turning the gamecube symbol into a type of symbol for "go" or whatever they'll call it, possible no?

Conspiracy theorist suggestion:
Nintendo leaked the GO picture, just like all the interface movies, in order to see public reaction. The fact that we've been able to find a similar logo means we just did some work for them! You're welcome again, Nintendo. Sincerely, your anxious community! ;-)
Rare Hare @ Mar 25th 2006 5:00PM
yeah, i think that proves it.. it's a shame, cause i really liked the name :).
Regula Oblique @ Mar 25th 2006 5:22PM
Hey jon that doesnt mean they denied it, these people lie all the time last week dell denied they were buying alienware and what happens next, this week they buy them.
I think this is real if its not the name of the revolution its probably part of the virtual console.
Better yet get this the nintendo Go could be the new itunes service where we use the revolution to download games and load them into either the new nintendo portable or the ds. this is a hunch but I think I just figured it out...though no one will read this anyway so I guess im just losing my mind right...yeah sure i am..but if it is the truth then nobody will say "hey regula oblique said that a couple months ago" but who cares.

I can't believe that ugly Nintendo Go idea has already gotten this much attention. The logo is ugly, the name is stupid... why would anyone actually believe this is real? Oh, because it was "allegedly" leaked from some Japanese conference... yeah, I'll bet. Aren't they all.
nizzy1115 @ Mar 25th 2006 5:55PM
it looks pretty similar! even the shadows match! :-O
ngS @ Mar 25th 2006 7:25PM
I like the english translation of the name "go".. but if it is actually "go" in English... ... . then it sucks
freakhead @ Mar 25th 2006 8:10PM
Funny how sites go out of their way to make clarifying statements like, 'We have no proof that this rumour isn't true.'
Well thanks man. I can sleep better at night knowing you're doing your best to keep the rumours spreading.
Jed Merrill @ Mar 25th 2006 8:13PM
Go just means five in Japanese, so to them it doesn't sound like Go-Go-Gadget. It is just like saying Nintendo 5.
Still, I doubt it is real. I am sure they will do a brand study and find that Revolution is a stronger name, at least in the United States.
joefro @ Mar 25th 2006 10:48PM
ahh...the catch thanks Jed Merrill now i do think that this is legit or at least the name i think that nintendo could catch the eye of the stupid parents of the world...just think, if they name it Nintendo Five, it is going up against the Playstation 3 and The Xbox 360, hmm... i think if i had no clue about something i was buying and it was cheaper than the others i would buy what sounds better, think like do you want a 1992 Chevy Corsica or a 2006 Corvette....i'll let you put the pieces together~~~~~~~~~but then i think someone made this just to make me think that nintendo GO was legit, but i know that the big N doesnt want to trick ppl they want ppl to have fun and make the choice that they want for there entertainment needs, so i still think that the symbol is fake and im 50:50 on the name but i think revolution wont be it and Go maybe but probaly not
Bunkhouse @ Mar 26th 2006 12:11AM
Definately no for the "go".
They could go with "NS5" a-la I.Robot :P
Morgan @ Mar 26th 2006 4:43AM
I don't know if it's real or not, but I totally lifted the style of "webeditor" from Namo for a client's logo a couple years ago. Thanks, Namo.
irfy @ Mar 26th 2006 9:27AM
Revolution is the name we've known for so long now... i say nintendo should keep it... Nintendo Revolution... 5 Consoles, 1 Revolution!
Qazar @ Mar 26th 2006 11:05AM
Still think this is legit. Think of it, Nintendo has gone with the isometric logo design since N64 so this would be a natural step. That there "was" a company with a similar logo dosent prove anything. And btw the logo is good, really grows on you but the GO thing isnt really good for us who know english.
Matthew @ Mar 27th 2006 3:47AM
The only thing that Nintendo seemed to be getting right with the new console was the name "Revolution". It made it seem like genuine progress, rather than a company admitting that they can no longer compete with the big boys.
Now even the name is gone! How many times can Nintendo keep shooting itself in the foot?
PS: I still might buy it for Shigeru Miyamoto.
Nintendo GO! @ Mar 31st 2006 6:45PM
i personally think it's the online service Nintedo GO= Nintendo Gaming Online
