Brain age? What's your brain speed?
If you weren't lucky enough to score a Nintendo DS Brain Age: Train
Your Brain in Minutes a Day! game at GDC this past week, here's a cheaper way to benchmark your brain with this
quick online game that purports to test your brain's clock speed from your microphone to your central processing unit.
Take the test, then share your score. I scored a 32 on my first run and a 31 on my second.

Ack, you're faster then me :) 36 the 1st time, and 34 after.
Still good if we compare the score to what they say is the average speed in most people.
Nick @ Mar 27th 2006 9:51AM
I scored a 39ms.. But I'm 14.. So I couldn't compare. =/
George @ Mar 27th 2006 10:04AM
34, but at least 3 of the samples early on in the test didn't play at all - I had to guess what they were.
Lewigi @ Mar 27th 2006 10:07AM

EdZ @ Mar 27th 2006 10:32AM

Persio @ Mar 27th 2006 10:34AM

bobmack @ Mar 27th 2006 11:14AM
26 @ 32 yrs. Maybe all that gaming has some benefit after all?
SUPERIOR LISTENER @ Mar 27th 2006 11:40AM
20 ms. Age: 26.
No chance in hell that I'm playing again to see if I get the same speed. ^_^

Why is Brain Age brilliant? Cause it makes this kind of thing fun! I'm NOT doing this over, but I want to since my score of 45 is pathetic!
Nope, gonna play some more Brain Age.
David @ Mar 27th 2006 12:18PM
...I got 77.

I'm 35 yrs old and I scored a 23. I thought maybe it was a gimmick like those online IQ tests that try to make you think you're smarter than you actually are so you'll buy the program, but people here are reporting scores that actually match up somewhat with their charts, so I guess it's legit.
Now I feel like Seinfeld when he does the bit about the hearing tests... "We believe you may have what we call "super hearing". Or maybe it's the green tea...
sgtpepper @ Mar 27th 2006 12:50PM
Hmmm windoze only.... screw that, Mac users don't need a test to tell them they're smarter than windoze users :p
Just trying to start a flame war? (maybe...)

Hmmm, can anyone deny that gamers are good at hearing audio patterns? I think not. ;-)

Got a 33. There are some pretty good numbers here. Seeing as most people that come here are gamers, I wonder if gamers tend to have a quicker "Brain Speed" than the non-gamer. The interpretation of sound, while playing a game, can most times be quite critical. I wonder If gaming is the ultimate practice to increase Brain Speed. Interesting food for thought.

leave it to Nintendo to figure a way out to make everyone a better gamer. Brain age is clever marketing term for you are young enough to play other games. It's a great idea to, because many people don't like games for thtat reason, they can't pick up on the audio and visual cues fast enough. So with a simpler controller coming out (one that relies on motion rather than button combinations) and a game that trains you to respond to crucial gaming input, it's a winner for nin.

I got a 102. I seriously am not lying. I am 15 and I was completely shocked by my score. Don't feel like doing it over though, scared to get lower.
jason @ Mar 27th 2006 11:13PM
29 ms the first time 20 ms the second.....
true gamer speed
17 yrs old..
Steko @ Apr 21st 2006 6:52PM
63 the first time. 48 the second. Four test later and I'm still stuck at 48. I've been training every day and will continue until I at least match my actual age: 33. Any game that will get my wife's attention is a good game.
